What do you guys think of us having a Gaming Club? It would be along the lines of how a Book Club would run with everyone voting for and playing the same game over a period of time and then discussing it.
We'd obviously stick to single player games and narrative focused titles as multiplayer wouldn't work in this case.
We'd have a time frame of say 3-5 days for people to post their thoughts and impressions just to keep things flowing and basically go from there.
It wouldn't necessarily have to be a long title either. We can pepper in 10 hour games like Mirror's Edge which would lend themselves well to this.
Let me know if there would be interest in doing something like this.

This is a cool idea. The only problem is that not everyone has the same games, and if they do have the game, they might have beaten it already. I guess they could always run through it again though. In any event, I would enjoy reading the thread about the impressions.

I like the idea and it is pretty cool but I wonder how the game selection will be. Also it is hard to sometimes stop one game and start playing another if people are already involved in a game. We can't all be like Seth and play 6 games at once. I kid I kid.

6 games...try more like 82 at once! Yea i hear ya Potter...i think the key to this would be utilizing brand new XBLA games perhaps to start that everyone is anticipating or new releases. Theres no right or wrong way we can go about it really, and with my fabulous crew, im sure Delt will formulate it as cool as possible. Hopefully we can figure something neat out in time!

That's a cool idea!
Maybe we could focus on a different system each time? Get a real spread around for people who don't have them all.

Very Great Idea, and Maybe we could add stream so if we don't have the game we can all watch and chat together looking at the others play.

We'll absolutely spread the love to different systems, we want to include as many people as possible. I know realistically everyone won't be able to participate every time. This is where we can tie it in to what Sondiame suggested with the possibility of a stream (great idea by the way).

I'm really digging this idea. Maybe have a poll at the beginning of the week, or something similar, with some game suggestions and then the winner is the game we all try to play.
Also, some older games would be nice too since they should be really cheap by now. For example, Dead Rising.

Definitely CD, we will span it all over the place in terms of old and new, you name it. I think it will just be one of those nice things that people can be involved in casually and maybe even get to games they havent been able too by doing it along with other people.

I'd be for it, but I'm a broke man, so I wouldn't be able to participate much until I get a job.

We tried this a while back on a site, it was a really cool idea, but it didn't work as nobody played the game, even though you could play it for free via gametap.

I could definitely see this being an issue. We always seem to get the community together but it never last more than a week or two

Interesting...do you guys have any pointers or thoughts on how we might keep people interested ?
If no one participates then there isn't much point in doing it.

I love this idea, but I agree that it will be difficult to maintain interest. I remember somebody creating a thread over at IGN once where you make a post whenever you beat a game, and even that experiment failed. I remember being really into it, but that thread died so quickly.

Another thing to keep in mind is we need to find a game that is: available on multiple platforms, cheap, really good, and most importantly not widely played by current members. That last bit is tough due to how many games we do play. Especially when we hear a good game not getting support.
For my group that was Psychonauts. I can't think of anything off the top of my head now.
Obviously we could use a new game, but then we have the money issue. I have none currently so I wouldn't be able to join.
Anyone up for a fantasy book club? I'd be down for that. Or well the steig larson books. haha

Wouldn't be able to do it. I barely have the time to play the single player games I buy already.
