As some of you know I run GamersArcadia.com, currently our staff is very small and I'm on the lookout for writers. If any of you want to try their hand at writing video game news and reviews, feel free to PM me. There is currently no pay as we pay for stuff out of pocket, however I'm constantly on the lookout for new press contacts and possible chances to get review copies of games. A person that becomes a member of our staff could possibly get in on those. Additionally depending on where you live we could see about getting you set up with stuff like E3. Obviously this may not apply to most of us, but if you know of a developer or something that has a place near you we could check with them and see if you could do an interview or something. Who knows. The most important thing currently is that your writing tone is right, we can correct spelling and punctuation a bit, but tone is hard to change without drastically changing the article. Currently we do a podcast every other week so if you become a staff member you can take part in that if you like. Additionally I can set up you up with a shiny new GamersArcadia.com email address. The perks are just that awesome. Currently we have one person who generally plays PS3. Another member of our staff does a bit of everything. One member is primarily Nintendo focused. I generally go with PS3 and PC. If you tend to main 360 that would be a nice way to round things out, but it's not necessary and just because you do doesn't mean you can't post about whatever system you want to post about. The ability to do video reviews via a camera or capture card is another nice plus, but again not necessary. Lastly, I doubt I'll find any but if you have experience with website design/ security that would be helpful as well.

And I have replied. We could easily have more than one staff member so if anyone else is still interested feel free to contact me.

How often would you need people doing stuff? I'm currently doing fulltime work right now and come September I'm going back to school and working part time. So I wouldn't be able to contribute a whole lot. But I do play a lot of handheld stuff. I've already put up 2 reviews for games in the review section of the forum if you want to see what my review style is like. Edit: I also live in Canada and Bioware Edmonton is like 5-8 hours away from me as well. Get me an interview with them so I can tell Bioware how badly the messed up Dragon Age 2.

What a fantastic opportunity for our members, much obliged Michael. I know first hand from running our review section that some of our members have very good potential.
I suppose the only question I have is what type of tone are you looking for? I'd imagine it would be advantageous for anyone looking to apply to actually visit your site and read some past reviews. But if you could maybe just give some quick examples of what type of tone you're looking for.
My curiosity was piqued by this opportunity as well, but as much as I'd like to apply I just don't think I have the time right now to put the proper amount of effort into it. The free time I do have is invested in my duties here and even then I've not found the time to write a review for our own site!
But as I mentioned, I really appreciate the opportunity that you've presented and I know you'll find some very good potential candidates here.

Great opportunity here for many of our users!
I would be interested in some role actually, I do enjoy writing reviews or even doing voice reviews like I did with Final Fantasy IV. But im not sure what all would entail Mike since I do spend time trying to work on this place.
Either way, as ive said to you previously we can set this up so that we are cross promoting and once we figure out a perfect way to do that, we can move forward with it.
But yea im just curious what all youre looking for in regards to reviews, are you looking for possibly a few guys? Because like ive said id love to do some reviews but I dont know or think i could do them all, maybe RPGs perhaps for me...im not sure, but im intrigued as I just simply enjoy reviewing games when I can.
Throw us some more info here if you could Mike in terms of other options or whether youre looking for simply "one" person to come on board.

Reviews:Here are is one of my reviews: gamersarcadia.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=143&Itemid=86And a very different tone, if you like Back to the future glance through this: gamersarcadia.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=307&Itemid=86Generally as long as reviews sound professional and give enough detail/ length they are fine. Just make sure you provide adequate information for the reader to understand your score. Here is one of Roto's video reviews: He goes on a bit long, but I think overall a 5 to 7 minute time frame is good to shoot for. I understand the whole 3 minute review, but I just prefer something with more length and detail. He also talks about some stuff before and after the review itself. As for the time frame, honestly I'm pretty lax about it. Be great if we could get 3 or 4 people posting at least one a month. Obviously more is better but not necessary. I'm going to be starting up a round of reviews here soon and have several games to review. Written or video is fine, but I will say it's generally much more time consuming to make a video review. News:It would be awesome to have someone post an article a day, however I think if we could get several people to post 2 to 3 articles a week it could do quite well. Here is an example from Bubbles: gamersarcadia.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=359:bubbles&catid=57:newsHe and I generally do things a bit differently, but overall I think you can get an idea from that. Finally, I'm really open to as many as can do a good job and want to right now because as I said we are quite small. Oh and I forgot, if anyone is interested in doing some photoshopping at some point that could be quite useful, our current graphics guy has been really busy as of late. I'm considering changing our theme to something else and we may need to look at having some tweaks done. Blackstone I'll take a look at your reviews here in a bit. Pretty tired at the moment. I will say, currently we could use both news and reviews, but I think news would benefit us a bit more at the moment.

Hmmm. If you need a news guy, I don't really follow news that much. Only here and there on forums. I do play a bit and on my handheld a lot so I can talk about them often. But from the sounds of it you'd want someone a little more active in the gaming scene than me. So as interesting as it is. I'll bow out already as I can tell I probably won't produce the output you'd like, especially with me being a new student come September. Now if you wanted an Anime guy. I'd be all over that. That's my first hobby.

You can still write reviews for the site, currently our site is setup so any user can submit articles. While you may not be up for one of these positions you can still contribute some if you like.

Just to update, we could really use a few more news writers. As far as reviews go all are welcome to submit their reviews.

Interested.
Don't know what to say though cause i can try anything at least once and my situation is changing alot right now with now getting out of high school i will be moving around to get higher learning and unsure of how work and schooling will come about out there.
Currently i only play PC i am not so good about being in front of a camera but i could try it but i can do articles and maybe audio-work but unsure how that would come about.
Maybe when i get more information on when im moving and info on the job in general i will try and join up and help out.

For those curious about how much time we're talking. Really my goal is to have enough staffers that we can all submit 2 to 3 news articles a week and have a somewhat steady flow of content.
I think that gives the site a lot of different perspectives and allows people to work, school, etc. outside of writing.

I could be your European correspondent (not really, i live in a small island in the middle of the atlantic ). Just to wish you good luck with your website, and from now on, i'm gonna check it. And listen to your podcast.
