I thought this would be an interesting topic, I know for me over the years I went from wanting challenge to just an experience these days. I dont want my games beatable blinfolded but I do find myself looking more for the experience factor over a challenge.
There are certain games where they may have a course or skill aspect and I get fascinated with beating it for some odd reason, but in my day to day gaming Im really looking at the experience for the most part.
What about you guys? Has this changed for you any over the years?

I prefer a bit of both. The game has to be fun, and awesome but I want at least some degree of difficulty so I feel like I have to use a bit of my brain to overcome something.

I voted for experience. At this point in my life and with my backlog, I don't really have the patience for games that have too high of a difficulty level.
Heck, even with games with which I am familiar with the series, I usually play any sequels first on Normal just because I'm more interested in the story than anything else.

Experience, because a challenge is beatable and left alone, but an experience is a great one like SA2B, I loved it durning my childhood and for some reason to this day still love it. The Music in that game more or less was the experience with me, "Down at pumpkin hill i gotta find my lost piece" :X

Both, I usually prefer a challenge in my games. Sometimes that challenge does give you that experience you want, the best example of this is Demon's Souls. The game was all around brutal, but yet this a game that will clearly stick with me during my whole gaming career so to speak. Because when you beat a boss in Demon's Souls, it felt like you just conquered something that you actually want to go outside and scream to the world you did it. A challenge actually makes you a tad bit proud you did something in a game, that is incredible to me.

Yea I think the more I think about it, I seek experiences...but when I do come across a challenge I do love when i accomplish it.
I just dont think I personally HUNT DOWN challenges so to speak, but if its presented I take it on. Like the Batman combat challenges, they were simply there and I felt I could beat them and after seriously grueling work i finally did and it felt great!

I vote experience.
More recent example would be playing Kirby's Epic Yarn. You literally can't die in the game, but I'm having a blast playing it. The bosses are adorable too.
I tend to get overly frustrated in a game with a lot of challenge and ragequit xD

A little bit of both. I don't mind a challenge. But when you throw in stupid crap just to artificially inflate the challenge (Uncharted 2 I am looking at you and simply just armouring ever last person on earth so they won't die as fast) it just starts to annoy me.
I rarely ever try to beat games on their hardest difficulty. Last game I did was Mass Effect 2, and that one kind of pissed me off.

Depends on the game. In a cinematic game, I generally just want the experience and don't play on difficulties higher than normal. Other games I often play purely for the joy of the challenge provided.
