As long as they stick more to the Oblivion side of things and less to the pointless generic dungeons of Arena and Daggerfall, I will enjoy the game.
I know a lot of you guys hated Oblivion, but for me, it was the first TES game I truly enjoyed and actually finished.

I know a lot of you guys hated Oblivion, but for me, it was the first TES game I truly enjoyed and actually finished. Oblivion for me was a mix, i think the world they created was gorgeous and just astounding through and through. Cyrodiil was just unreal, my main qualms were: 1. Too much random worthless loot 2. Too many repeated dungeons 3. Wonky level system --- Those 3 things mainly for me were my disappointments. The dungeons i can excuse a bit more simply because that size and scope, i can understand it being tedious to make so many unique to their own style dungeons so i can let go that aspect a bit, but more variety would of been nice. Loot and leveling are my only major major beefs with Oblivion, outside of that the game is great.

^^^ There is a new video out there somewhere where they said the leveling is like Fallout 3 and even more complex/better.
BEST GAME EVER.

Skyrim is by far my most anticipated game of the year. I was already excited for it, but what I saw at e3 blew me away. My wife is gonna hate me this fall/winter.

There was really no reason to ever explore a dungeon because you were never going to find some great piece of armor or weapon.

;D Neo, yea winter this game will own my face.
Ed, exactly. That was something that hurt Oblivion for me. I want to explode and find a band of enemies somewhere protecting a cave full of loot and is hard as hell to get too, but if you get in there you come out with something pretty amazing.
Oblivion had its moments but they were never moments where i grabbed some loot and thought DAMN NICE!!
But the game itself was amazing, the scope, the graphics at the time...pretty awesome.

Seth, I agree with you on the loot issue. I hope they really fix that to make exploring really rewarding!
Like I said the level scaling issue has been fixed so overall I think they will nail everything perfectly with this game.

I have a feeling since it's Bethesda developing it, it's going to be buggy as hell and full of ridiculous animations like ES:Oblivion and the Fallout games they've made. People blame the Gamebryo engine for all the bugs, ridiculous animations, but in all honesty there's plenty of games that use Gamebyro and run fine such as Rift and Bully. All the more recent games they've released (ES: Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout NV) have been bugged out the ass to a ridiculous amount. Most of which have gone fairly unfixed by Bethesda's support so modders themselves (on PC) made a bug fixing patch that's change log is ridiculously long. Will it be a good game and am I looking forward to it? Hell yeah, I enjoyed Morrowwind and Oblivion and I'll enjoy Skyrim as well, but I'm hoping Bethesda get's their head out of their ass (for lack of a better term) and provides better bug testing, better refinement and better support for their game.

I'm a firm believer that there is NO such thing as GREATEST GAME EVER, but I do believe that Skyrim will be utterly amazing and probably be one of my favorites of all time.

I really do think that Bethesda learned from Oblivion, and i feel they are really going to fine tune this one. We need to get some more skyrim screens up as well soon here! I need to hunt for some.

I'm kinda worried about bugs, and I've skipped out on a few interesting titles just because of the bugs and glitches, but there's something about Elder Scrolls that allows me to let it slide. I mostly played Morrowind on Xbox and I remember very well having to save every 5 minutes in anticipation of the game freezing up on you but I'll be damned if that wasn't one of the greatest games ever. Oblivion had some issues as well but more in the way of design rather than function so when it came to bugs and glitches it was much improved. I read a lot about bugs for Fallout 3 but I personally ran into very few and I played all DLC and played through numerous times with different builds of characters. I had more technical issues from Oblivion. So now I would imagine the trend continues with them polishing up their titles better each time. Also I'm talking about Bethesda's top tier development team, not just stuff they published from the likes of Obsidian and such.

Yeah. Don't get me wrong, Oblivion was a fun as hell game, but the bugs. Oh lordy the bugs. And no matter what you did, your character turned out ugly as hell. I just hope Skyrim is better polished and has better support. Compared to their track record with Oblivion, FO3, NV etc it has me worried as well.

This is my most anticipated game since I finished Oblivion. I'm debating which platform to get it on: Xbox or PC. I played and finished Oblivion on the Xbox, and then bought it on the PC for cheap when I was travelling abroad. I can't really play games with mouse and keyboard, but I loved trying out the mods. I'm assuming that the PC version would most likely have dpad support. I might just upgrade for this

I'm at work just reading an article on it and man, this game may blow the roof off video games. If it pans out how they are talking, we are in for a treat. Just reading the additions to Skyrim and the notion of implementing a level system closer to Fallout, call me stoked. And I'm loving the dragon aspect, looks amazing. If this game does it right, it may very well be the best game of the decade... Least imho. Alright Mr. Seth I am going to call you out on this: what do you mean by "greatest game ever?"

youtu.be/ic6dKnv3WdUIf you haven't already checked this vid out yet, it is definitely worth a watch. I do hope the bugginess isn't an issue with the new engine. I loved the exploration of Oblivion and almost started a character to just go dungeon diving. The WRPG style has really stuck with me and I love the "go anywhere, do anything" approach these games are taking. This is a Day 1 purchase for me. And dragons are cool too!

Definitely looks like the animations and gameplay are a lot better compared to FO3/NV/Oblivion. Looking forward to some of the mods that come out for this on PC. Also hope they have some quests chains like the dark brotherhood one in TES: Oblivion, that one was just amazing overall.
