Any new genres youve started to appreciate?

For me this gen id say 3rd person action/shooters and even first person shooters have sort of caught my eye this gen. Last gen i really only played RPGs for the most part, and sports games, but this gen has really got me loving 3rd person action titles and some FPSers.

Rpgs and Strategy games. Last Gen all i played was fps and fighting games, but this gen its like. Yums 3 disc games and unit placements.

It's the first person shooter genre for me as well Seth. Prior to this gen I may have played less than half a dozen FPS' total.

It still isn't my favourite genre, but I've really warmed up to it.

FPS, for me. I never played them much before, but in the last couple years, I've gotten into PC gaming pretty big and started to love FPSs. I don't play them on console though.

FPS games. I didn't really play them much up until this generation. Now I really enjoy them.

I would say RPG's. I just know more about them thanks to this gen and appreciate them more.

No, not really. I still enjoy action/adventure games and RPGs more than just about any other genre, which are the same genres that I've liked the most for the past few generations. I guess I appreciate open world games more this gen since they've advanced a lot, but I enjoyed them last gen as well. I like shooters less this gen because there have been too many of them IMO. They're fun once in a while, but I usually like the games that I play to have a little more depth to them beyond running and gunning.

Always have been an RPG fan. i've really been turned off from the FPS game genre recently.


just not a fan of anything being produce by EA really. I passed on the DA expansion because of the DLC crap they pulled with DA launch, and then with the DA2 basically catering to the console crowd I will never own that game.


I don't really play consoles much. Even though i've bought a ton of PS2 jrpg's due to seth's recommendations It's why I have a ton of PS2 games that I haven't finished lol.


I don't know.. with Eve-Online, LoL and watching animu I don't really have much free time left over.

RTS.

Used to be pretty horrible at them, played Warcraft mainly for story (same with C&C, Starcraft, etc.).

I picked up SC2 for story purposes and found I've become much more adept at planning, resource control, and micro-management. Started back playing things like Age of Empires, replaying Command and Conquers, etc. and am much better at it.

My tastes haven't really changed much. I just prefer a little more action now, mostly adventure games and rpg's. I'm liking Western devs more this generation since they seem to have really come around, while Japanese devs are starting to see that the same-old, same-old feels tired. As for fighting games, I've always liked them once in awhile, but my soul still burns ever since the first time I played Soul Calibur on the arcade.

I think this gen opened me up to Western RPGs and FPS. I definitely am a huge fan of story driven open world games, like Assassin's Creed and Dead Rising. Also, I think any game with RPG elements (stats) generally catches my interest.

Last gen, it was all about JRPGs and Fighters.

I would like a SRPG like Final Fantasy tactics on the Xbox 360....but that'll never happen.
