I have to wonder about the design decisions. for example...why is the free roam not meshed together with the regular story line? If other rockstar games have did it, what makes La. Noire different?
Also has anybody been able to shoot someone in the hand to make them drop the gun? i did it once but then i think i shot him again and killed him. since that one time, i havent been able to do it. is it even possible? i wonder if when the gun fell was he on his way to dying anyway?

L.A Noire is suppose to make you be as much into the story as possible, and not free roaming killing random civilians like most Rockstar games. The Hand part. I have no idea.

I kinda think thats a bunch of BS spun by the developer. gta and red dead has plenty of story to it. the free roam mode that you access from the start menu doesnt allow you to go around killing civilians either. the free roam mode is just like the main mode but with out being forced to do stick to the case. the story having emphasis i just dont buy that makes it need a separate mode. if free roam mode was some arcade mode i'd maybe buy it but free roam mode isnt, like that and I don't see why it needed separate modes. hell if i choose to ignore the case i could do free roam mode in the story mode, i just wouldnt get a good score. i think this design decision will have this game looked back on as probably the least successful of open world games rock star has delivered.

LA Noire was developed by Team Bondi, Rockstar probably helped influence the game, but I think Team Bondi created the world they wanted. I think the sandbox world was just included to make the setting for the game more believable, not exactly for free roam. I understand that all the great detail kinda goes wasted because the story forces you to limit yourself in the "free roam" area. About I was able to disarm a suspect, but the end cut scene just showed him dead so I guess you can really arrest them.

early on i'm liking it but i think by the end i'm gonna look back(if i make it to the end) and think it wasn't all that good.

I am on the vice cases now and it's getting really repetitive. The end of the homicide cases was really good though. I kind of wish they would have switched the game around a bit and let it end on that one.

I just finished the first homicide case and so far I've been digging the game. I do see how this game can get repetitive.
I'm still really impressed with the tech they used for the game. It definitely makes the characters feel alive with the expressions.

L.A. Noire was published by Rockstar, but it was NOT developed by Rockstar. You can't expect it to be like a Rockstar-developed game.

free roam mode that you access from the start menu doesnt allow you to go around killing civilians either. You're a cop, you don't kill civilians. Sounds like someone wasn't reading any previews or reviews.

I'm having a lot of fun with this game. I just wish the street crime side missions weren't so boring. It almost feels like they added those in there for the GTA crowd. I think the game would have been better without them.

I am at the end of the Vice cases and I am loving the game so far. Sure there is some repetition but I think pretty much every game has some. Like others said you are a cop so you can't go around killing civilians. Plus you can free roam during the cases but I do think this game works better how they did it because it keeps you immersed in the case.

Does the game play or feel anything like RDR in terms of roaming around?

It has a little bit of a Rockstar feel. But this game does not encourage roaming around the way RDR did. Nor is roaming around fun like it was in RDR. The story is a lot of fun though.
