Hey guys,
I know the game is old news now but I haven't played it yet...Been thinking about picking this up when go on break from school(especially since its dirt cheap now) but want to beat Fallout New Vegas before hand.
I absolutely loved the first Bioshock. I know the second didn't live up to the first but just want some of your thoughts...How long is it by the way?

I enjoyed it. It is not as good as 1 but that is to be expected. You lose that sense of awe because you have been to Rapture before. I think that the level design is actually better though. I felt like the fights always had a purpose and made sense.
It is worth a play through.

Yeah, it's a good game. I think if you liked the first Bioshock you;ll like this one. I didnt pay much attention to the story, it wasn't as creative as the first one, but still a good game.

I think the criticisms were slightly unfair, a lot of reviewers slated it because it was practically the same game as the first but with a 2 on the end. Well I loved the first and was left wanting more so that was fine by me. I also thought there was enough subtle changes to the first to Warrant it's release. Being a big daddy was one plus some new weapons and traps and better online play.
I agree with obiwan that rapture just lost it's awe a bit as we've been there before.

B1 has the best story, and B2 had better gameplay.
I enjoyed B1 more as it was more fresh, and the story keep me going when the gameplay stated to grow stale.

I think the second game is better than the first in every way except story. Even then the story is great compared to most other shooters, just doesn't have the "impact" of the first.
The gun play is much improved, the dual wielding just makes the combat much more interesting and some of the level design is fantastic.
Also the DLC "Minerva's Den" is really the best Bioshock out there right now....

Good to see ya John! That post makes me want to run out and snag a copy of it, just knowing the gun play is improved...thats the main thing that hurt the first for me a bit, but i still love the first...i actually need to finish that game up!

Original was definitely superior, by the end of 2 I was more then ready for it to be over.

I felt they could have done a much better job with it, I think they spent too much time making the multiplayer which was fun for a day but horribly implemented. And honestly, going from some scrawny fuck with a wrench to a badass dude in the first game was a lot of fun. In the second one, you start off beastly and end beastly. It's meh.

In the second one, you start off beastly and end beastly. It's meh. I got my ass handed to me when I first started out. What they give you to start is a joke, regular splicers would tear me up. But yeah, I pretty much went into god mode when I got my speed, drill and freeze buffed up.
