I enjoyed the game, but the story didn't really grab me like I had hoped. I was more engaged with how the story was told rather than it's content.
The whole poltergeist theme I think went a little overboard. It would of been nice if they used it as a subtle effect, but after a while it gets obnoxious to me with how overused it is int his game. And fighting a bunch of tv's at the end of The Signal was kind of a ridiculous concept imo.
Next up it's the Writer dlc and than I might be done with this one.

Welcome aboard tgo!
You know i felt the same about the poltergeist stuff, because I went into the game thinking a little more twilight zone, sort of spooky/what you dont see is the scariest or getting weird vibes more than entities wailing objects at you.
I loved the game, but that was a downer for me. The atmosphere though when stuff wasnt flying at you was great, i really loved sometimes the subtle, peaceful moments you had here and there.

Thanks Seth. I did enjoy it, just not as much as I had hoped, especially how long we've been waiting for it. But for what it was, it was enjoyable. There were times where the atmosphere was really great, the graphics and sound are definitely strong points for the game.

AW did a lot of things right IMO. I loved the story-telling mechanic that was used. Couple that with the episodic framing complete with recaps and you felt like you were playing something bigger than just a game. Also, I really enjoyed the music in that game.
But I do agree. I got tired of fighting refrigerators, barrels and tires.

Great game, one of the best i played last year just on ambiance alone. I really hope we see a sequel.

I loved Alan Wake. I haven't played the Writer yet though. The story was a little lacking and the ending was terrible. I was hoping for better graphics as well. The game was so blurry.

Would be nice to see a nice surprise from Remedy at E3 of their next project.

Really like the game, just thought the combat got a little old after a while. Hope they make a sequel and continue/end the story.

IMO, the second DLC chapter was the best part of the whole game. It's like they threw every crazy idea they had left on the table into that final chapter.

Haven't tried the second DLC yet... I should do that. Alan Wake is really one of my favorite games ever. I remember the whole time that I was playing it, I kept thinking that it was so awesome. I'm a big fan of stephen king and the x-files though, and the game was clearly influenced, very heavily, from those sources. At least in my opinion.

Well I finished "The Writer" last night. And it was amazing. Definitely well worth the points. It might be the best section in the game. A lot of non stop action, but also some nice set pieces that allow you to walk around and enjoy the amazing atmosphere. I thought I'd be done with the game once it was all done, but the last piece of dlc is so good it makes you want to experience the game all over again. Well done Remedy. I'd love a new Alan Wake.

I may have to snag the writer, how was the signal in comparison?

The signal I thought was good, it offered a lot of intense action just as "The writer" did. Without spoiling anything there are more moments where you can use the environment in both dlc's to kill enemies. If you enjoyed the moment of the rock concert in the main game than you will really appreciate the action sequences and its upped challenge in the dlc. Both downloads are both worth a purchase for the Alan Wake fan.

The rock concert part in AW was AMAZING hah, one of the best moments in gaming history imho. The music sold make that moment even better
