Reported 5 minutes ago by Joystiq, Ian Cummings, the Creative Director of the Madden NFL series has announced that he has left EA, along with EA Sports CTO Richard Wifall. He announced the departure on EA's Madden Blog saying "I leave the Madden NFL 12 development team with confidence that it is in great hands." You can read his entire departure note here: www.ea.com/madden-nfl/blog/a-note-from-ianIt will interesting to see how and in what way this effects the development of Madden 12. It's rumoured that he could be leaving to join a new Social game company called Row Sham Bow.

Wow that is pretty big! Man I'd love to see a shake up at EA to somehow get madden in a new direction.

Any direction would be welcomed. I'm pretty tired of Madden resting on it's laurels year after year. Gameflow was just a poor excuse to justify calling it Madden 11.

Yea I am one of those guys that have tried to let 2K go and realize that Madden is just what we are going to get, with that said...i feel its gotten better a bit but i wish someone could step in and really give it a push in a new direction.

I skipped 11 entirely and will do the same if there aren't vast improvements to 12. I really got far into my Madden 10 franchise, building my team from the ground up and eventually to become Superbowl Champs. That attachment alone will keep me more than satisfied until EA can prove to me that they actually care about this franchise's fans.

I will skip 12 this year unless they announce something very ground breaking that proves that were actually trying to put out an improved product this year. If not, then I will have to settle for another year of APF 2k8. Still can't believe 2k got gang tackling right 7 years ago and Madden still can't figure it out...
