This one. Last gen was great, but this gen is AWESOME. Why is this gen better than last gen IYO? The DS is my most favorite system ever, so this generation wins by default. The system not only brought brand new games, but new genres and new ways to play old ones. There's been a resurgence of the point-and-click adventure games, which I've found I really like. The RPGs on the system are fantastic, and the library is just astounding, IMHO. I could probably play DS games for the next 10 years and still not get around to all the games I'd want to play. That, and the online aspect is a plus too. Can't complain about being able to play with (or against!) my buddies who live across the country, y'know? So yeah, this gen rules IMO.

Why is this gen better than last gen IYO? The DS is my most favorite system ever, so this generation wins by default. I have a DS and I like it, but it's secondary to my HD consoles. It's basically what I play when I'm in the mood for old school 2D gaming (adventure, JRPG, platformer), which isn't very often. It's nice to have when I need a portable system as well, which also isn't very often. But different strokes for different folks.

If DS is already part of THIS gen then i'm not so sure about my opinion anymore What Grant said is true, DS alone has MORE than enough awesome games to keep you busy for literally 10 years which is crazy if you think about it but true! People that say otherwise just have not checked out all the great gems this system has to offer!!

I've always been more of a portable-oriented gamer, even when I was a kid. So handhelds usually appeal to me more than consoles. Case in point, while the DS was my favorite system this gen, the PSP is my second favorite. And I enjoy both handhelds far more than any of my consoles (I own all three). But yeah, I'm kind of alone in that train of thought. And I can definitely see the appeal of the consoles; awesome graphics, HUGE games.. and especially in the 360's case, online connectivity. Definitely good stuff.

This gen by far. I haven't been this much in to gaming since the NES/Genesis generation! Reasons: - I got in to western RPGs, thanks to Oblivion, Fallout, and Mass Effect - I got over my FPS motion sickness - Wireless controllers as standard - Persistant user account - Friends! Gaming is now mainstream enough that most of my friends at least owns one console - Region free PS3 - this is not as a big deal as it used to be since most games make it over, but as a kid I used to dream about playing all these import games, and I would have to snail mail my relatives in Japan, which never got it right.

People that say otherwise just have not checked out all the great gems this system has to offer!! The DS has a lot of great games, but they're different from HD console games. I prefer HD console games to most DS games. That doesn't mean that I don't think that there's lots of fun DS games, but I prefer to spend my time playing HD console games. They appeal to me more.

I know that's the popular opinion, but it's one of the reasons why I don't like this gen as much as last gen. There's been too much of a focus on being connected online with an oversaturation of co-op and multiplayer games, as well as DLC that should have been included in games to begin with. Personally, I don't feel like the games—at least not the games I play—feel any less complete as SP games than they did last gen.

The single player campaigns in most first person shooters are a lot less complete this gen compared to last. A four hour FPS last gen would have been ripped a new one, but this gen it's accepted just as long as the multiplayer is good. Also, there's a lot less single player focused games this gen and a lot more multiplayer focused ones.
