Story, graphics or gameplay, whats important?

Out of those three..which do you find is the most important to you??

That is too difficult of a question to answer as they all come together to make a cohesive quality product.

I am graphics whore at heart but I need an amazing gripping story for me to actually enjoy the game and also need amazing gameplay.

So… I cannot pick one without having the other two.

I would go with gameplay. Borderlands is an example of great gameplay without a gripping story. The graphics worked well for what they were. But they were far short of revolutionary.

Gameplay is the most important aspect of a game, then comes graphics and far far in last place is the story.

Ok, if I had to pick one then it would have to be gameplay.

I would say graphics second, then story.

I think for me in the long run it varies from game to game, or genre to genre...i think thats the best way i can sum it up for myself.

I just think gameplay is the most independent of the three. A game can have a weak story and look like total deuce, but if the gameplay is fun then it is can still be a really good experience. On the other hand, if a game is beautiful and has a really gripping story, but the gameplay is awful, it is going to be a real chore to get through.

Gameplay is often the more important, but it really depends on the game. I like a variety of games and for a variety of reasons.

They can all play off of each other, but gameplay is definitely weighted most importantly to me. Graphics and story? Well it's context specific, but generally the graphics (including art) have to not suck. And really, a story can be non existent and a game would be fun, so that gets weighted the least.

Seeing as how my favourite systems right now are the DS and PSP and I'm completely fine with their graphics. I'm not a big stickler for graphics.

Gameplay. I can deal with a sub par story (90% of all games out there fall into this category), and graphics can go either way but if the controls suck I am out within 15 minutes of booting up the game.

First, it has to have a story that interests me. Then it has to have good gameplay. Of course, there are some exceptions with platformers and games like Mario.

I like good graphics, but I'm a retro gamer too, so old looking stuff won't deter me from playing a game that has the above 2.

I will go with gameplay because without good gameplay none of the other stuff matters to me. I love a nice looking game graphics wise but it I get immersed in a story like Mass Effect I won't even be paying attention to how the game looks. Either way it is still all about how the game plays.
