Always make sure you're texting who you're suppose to be texting. I accidentally sent a text to my boss, about my work, that was intended for my husband. I had just talked to my boss about some staffing issues we're having and told her I couldn't/wouldn't work on Friday, then she walked off. I immediately started txting who I thought was my husband. After the second message, I recalled hearing another person's phone go off, then my boss comes back there saying "uhhhh, you're texting me". Luckily, I didn't say anything particularly incriminating, though I was about 1 more message away from some vulgarities! Oh my....

I've done that plenty of times over IM, but never over text.

Oh yeah I've gotten in trouble a couple times with the gf, having 2 IM windows open at once and accidentally sending something to her that was meant for the other person. "Are you talking to somebody else?" Busted!

Oh man, I did that once when I was texting a friend about an annoying co worker.
Had to do some serious damage control afterwards.

I've done it before on IM, but fortunately nothing bad. My boss' wife and I share the same first 5 letters of our name, so he has sent me texts meant for her on multiple occasions. One was rather TMI, one was a rant about a co-worker, and the rest were everyday stuff. It's kind of amusing.

CN, just before I sent one out I realized it was to the wrong person and it would have been quite a problem. Yeah, staying focused helps...I was sweating bullets even though i caught it.

I was just about to launch into vulgarities just before she told me me.
I love my career but not where I work. Basically we've had this going on:
1 RN put in her 2 weeks notice, the decided she wasn't going to finish it out, leaving us a week early...when she's the only RN scheduled for the weekend to work on nights.
Our Ward Clerk(unit secretary) and only one at that is leaving us to go work for the Kidney clinic across the street.
1 LPN is going to be out for a bit due to his son having cancer, which has just spread, so they sent him to the hospital in Little Rock for more surgery.
1 LPN showed up to work yesterday, but started having chest pains and was sent to the ER and then admitted to CVICU where she had some major fluid overload(they pulled off 4 liters of fluid that day alone). So she'll be out for a bit, looks like.
and finally, 1 RN that I work with on my shift and rotation called in Tuesday, leaving me high and dry, because she said she was "too weak and tired". She now had a Dr. note letting her off work for the next 2 weeks due to "anemia". Which if you know this woman, you'd know it's complete BS.
The texts I sent were about that last RN and I was about to get hateful before I realized who I was texting. Because we just found out that RN was out for a while, that leaves no RN to work on Friday. I just completed a long 3 days stretch and only get today and tomorrow off before I have to go back for the weekend. My boss had asked me to work those days and I said no. 12 hour shifts are long and they're even worse when you work shorthanded like I have over the last few days.
Nevermind the fact that yesterday, we were 1 nurse short after the LPN had to go to ER. So it was just me and one other RN with 7 patients starting out, with 5 new surgeries being admitted that day. That's 12 patients for 2 nurses. Our boss was there, but refused to come out on the floor to help. The night before, she was suppose to come in and help, but didn't and left the only RN to work alone with 7 patients. And to top it off, she says she can't hire anyone immediately because there's a "hiring freeze". I call BS, because another unit just hired 6 nurses last week. If you need help, you need help, don't fuck around with BS excuses. And she said she's not going to hire a travel nurse because "they cost too much".
You know, I bust my ass every day at work, and when that's the kind of payment we get from our hospital and our direct supervisor, I don't feel too compelled to bust my ass on my only days off for her.
I will give her credit though. She is working today and working 2 nights this weekend, only because there is no one else to work. I just don't know what we're gonna do after that.

You know what's funny is we work entirely different jobs, I'm in molding in a plastics plant, but they are so similar. I work nights, 6-6. This is our busy season so each shift is mandated to send two people in for overtime. One production assistant, our shift has 3 PAs. And one packer, our shift has between 8-10 packers. I'm one of the three, basically make sure everything is running. One of our other PAs just had a kid so we've been splitting his day for him. So add it up and this is the fifth week that I've worked 60+ hours. I've never got the hiring freeze excuse, my boss just tells me they're too cheap to hire someone else right now. It doesn't even make sense because they're paying me time and a half to come in every day.. I don't know if insurance rates are so high right now that it's still cheaper? That's all I got.
And talk about bosses. We had a guy that was let go awhile back that would do nothing but spy on people. Literally spy on people. I walked into the break room one time, flipped on the lights and there he was standing at the glass watching people work. In the dark. The rest of the day he would sit in the office sending out emails. It really seems like the higher up you get, the less you have to do in a day. And it makes you lazy.
I have the next three days off and I'm not going to know what to do with myself.

I've had a similar situation, my story is rather cliche though.
My GF (Lauren) and I spent several days together house sitting for my parents (approximately 6). During that time we were always together and never texted, so my text chat with her fell off. So after the parents get back and we go back to separate households, I go to text her and realize that I have 3 Laurens in there, so I press the top one thinking "Most recent" sure. I send some lovey dovey and inappropriate things. Luckily it's one of my friends, and she goes "Yeah, this isn't the right one you dumbass." Took me forever to dig myself out of that one and I now keep AT LEAST last initials on every name in my address book.
CN that sounds painful and just reinforces my respect for anyone who works a shift schedule at a 24/7 establishment. I have two friends who do it, a nurse and a doctor, and I just cannot fathom how they keep that schedule straight. Lots of respect here.

I'm so used to automatically texting my fiancee all the time that one time I was complaining about a fight we just had to my brother, and accidentally sent it to him. Oops x.x

I've had this happen a couple of times but I've found a way to fix it. Just call the person you're trying to contact and if the "Hello" or whatever greeting isn't their voice say "sorry, wrong number" and hang up. It seems to work every time.
