wii.ign.com/articles/118/1180702p1.htmlHaving a diversity of product hardware on store shelves is a good thing for sure. Especially when that involves having an earlier, and cheaper, version of your top flight hardware available to the consumer. Not to mention that releasing a limited number of consoles in any given market upon debut is commonplace in the video game industry so it's not like there won't be space for those Wii boxes still. I'm also very curious about the way Fils-Aime talks about online service. I'd say that it's obvious that the consoles own capability will mirror that of Wii with a Nintendo channel and browser but I find it very interesting that Nintendo seems content on allowing the 3rd party devs to build, run and police their own online services. From a business perspective, this is fantastic! The question is will it be practical and that depends more on the 3rd party devs than on Nintendo. Nintendo isn't responsible for information security if your account is with EA Sports right? Virtual Console and Wii Ware would only be under Nintendo's care I think. It'll be virtually impossible to have the same problems as Sony.

As long as most of them take my system id (whatever it happens to be) and we get game invites I'm fine with it when it comes to the online.
