Was his previous year a fluke? Was last year just a bad year?
The year he exploded, i dont know what was going on but i dont think any team played defense against him...not downing CJ, but i just watched games where that did basically had a green light on every play to run it into the endzone.
I remember i think against Cincy they didnt even cover the man on a play.
Thoughts?

I don't think he really had a bad year last year. He was still over 4 yards a carry. Just compared to 2 years ago it was way down. I think he still had double digit touchdowns and they didn't get a lot out of their qbs last year.

Oh yea, the year for any player was a decent year, especially in TDs...its just his yardage, combined the year before he had around 2500 rushing/receiving...and last year he was about 1,000 yards short of his previous year combined again almost. Especially in just rushing, he was about 700 yards short. Which is why i question was that big year simply what he can do on a regular basis or a little more fluky? He sure didnt come close to his predicte 2500 rushing yards

No he didn't but I always will look at a 2000 yard rushing season as a fluke. That is too hard to duplicate. He was what 5th or 6th guy to do it. I think Chris Johnson will improve on last year in most categories and be around 10 or 11 tds again but I don't expect him to come close to 2000 yards.

He had a solid year for sure. He just wasn't Mr. Fantasy like he was the previous year.
Draft Secret: I won't pick him early this year.

I drew first pick in my league last year and followed suit and took Johnson. It wasn't that he was a bust. It was just the weeks when he was bad, he was real bad and I would lose my matchups by like 5-10 points and all I really needed from him was just a par for the course type day!

I lost in my championship game last year. Two years ago I did well up until the last few weeks and then I had a few Colts on my team and they got there rest but I got beat in the playoffs. I don't pick Colts anymore. I won't really pick anyone from teams now when I know they rest their players. Last year my whole team sans Brady decided to go into a slump at the wrong time. Because of Brady I still pulled out my first playoff game but not the championship game. Sad thing is I dominated for most of the season. I also picked up Brady in like the 6th round because no one would touch him.

Can't expect a player to have a year like the one CJ had in 2008 every year or even every few years. There's a reason why only 6(?) runners have eclipsed 2k rushing yards. As for his total yards, that was an NFL record so can't really blame him for not eclipsing that again or even getting close to it. Still had a great year though, 7th in the league and rushing and nearly 1,400 yards to go along with 11 rushing touchdowns. Not sure what happened receiving wise though; he had the same amount of receptions but had 5 yards less per catch....
A QB that can go deep could really help CJ out, or even just a QB who's good enough to make a defense respect the pass.

I was sort of also referencing his comment of rushing for 2500 in the post which is where my main question of what happened came from, but i agree you definitly cant expect that every year of course...i just am curious if he can come close to that monster year again in the years to come.

Yeah the 2500 yard comment was just a bunch of hot air. I don't even think he could have believed that.

I think the big play ability really helps him. I'd like to see how many of those 2000 yards came from run that were 40 yards or longer. I'd bet a good bit of it. With the amount of carries he'll get from the Titans if he can get his YPC back up he could get close again. With out a QB who can scare the defense though it'll be hard...but if you have a good QB he'll get less carries so yeah lol

They lost a few starters on their line from the year before too.

Combine bad QB play, loss of lineman, and a previous year of massive numbers and you get your own personal spot in the defensive playbook.
A 2000 yard season will wear on a man. Having to rely on him most of the time -AND- to boast more against today's defenses? Yeah.

Yea I think that was a huge part too, having a bad QB back there made teams not even really focus on the QB and put every bit of focus on CJ...definitly was a huge part im sure.
Just a little switcheroo though on topic, do you guys feel Britt is definitly the real deal? I have to say i was impressed how he exploded last year, ashame he got hurt but man Britt really turned on the juice.

Britt will be an animal if he can get his mind into it and stay out of trouble.

Britt will be an animal if he can get his mind into it and stay out of trouble. A huge feat these days, it would seem. I agree though, the guy has talent, and if he can keep his nose clean he'll be extremely valuable.
