So what say you guys, will 3D be a trend that will most likely die off eventually or is it here to stay?

I'll vote yes. BUT, it really depends on the movie. Not all 3D is the same. Avatar was eye huggingly awesome, while Clash of the Titans was akin to eye socket rape.

I don't support 3D if that's the only selling point of the movie.

The only movie I've actually spent money on to see in 3D was that Spy Kids movie, back when the 3D was just starting to make a comeback. I'm sure it will die off eventually but I'm also thinking it will be around for quite some time. I don't really support all of this 3D stuff - all of it seems to be getting a bit out of hand - and the only thing I regret not seeing in 3D was the Transformers 3 movie. It could have been awesome.
However, some of those Disney movies such as the Rapunzel film, "Tangled" didn't need to be in 3D. Movie companies are just trying to make an extra buck for no extra work. It all just seems dumb, plus, the 3D gives me a headache to look at.

3D was cool when only 1 movie every 4 years had it. Now we get lucky if a movie has 2D and frankly those 2D movies are better. Its not going to die off now. Probably after 2015, or later.

Not a huge fan of it. It's one thing if its part of the original vision of the film like Avatar, but when its converted after the film is shot to squeeze a few extra bucks out of moviegoers like Clash of the Titans, then I'm against it.
It'll be around for a little while longer, especially since Cameron is planning to shoot Avatar 2 soon, but It hasn't made a difference in the box office like a lot of movie studios thought it would.

I'm fine with it as long as it is done well. I hate that they can upcharge for it though.

It's really hard for me to watch a 3D movie, especially since you can really tell when they put the 3D in after shooting. It gives me a horrible migraine if it's done wrong. Actually, the only movie I didn't have a problem with watching it was Avatar. I saw the latest Pirates in Imax 3D and it was ok. It had parts that were hard for me to watch, seemed like some of the 3D stuff didn't line up right, idk.

NAY. I'm a 3D hater and proud to say it. Every movie I've seen in 3D has failed to impress me. Avatar and Resident Evil: Afterlife came close, but even those fell short. IMO, 3D technology shouldn't have become available to the public until they found a way to make it glasses-free and maybe found a way to reduce the migraines some people experience while watching 3D -- if that's even possible.

I am in the Nay camp. I wear glasses so having to put 3D glasses over mine suck. Only movie i have paid to see 3D was Avatar, and I am not sure that it was worth it for me.
As most said, it seems like a gimmick that allows them to up the ticket price. I went to see Transformers 3 this past weekend and saw it in 2D, and the theater was packed. They had 2 screens showing 3D at the same time and the 2D was full. Go figure.

I wear glasses so having to put 3D glasses over mine suck. That exactly. Maybe they should be more focused on making the 3D movies glasses-free instead of focusing on how to make more movies that shouldn't be 3D be 3D.

Hate 3D movies. Epic waste of money and I don't even have to pay for movies. Especially bad when the 3D is done post editing. At least film it in 3D.
