We've got a smaller community here, so I'm not sure how popular this topic will be.
Last year I picked up FIFA 11 on a ridiculously good sale, and had a blast with it. I've noticed that there seems to be quite a bit of competition between these two titles, so I thought I'd turn to G.O. and see what y'all think. Anyone out there play these games? Which is your favorite, and why?

I always buy both of them, because i'm a football fanatic (ok, i only buy PES because of my brother). I must say, until 2009, PES was the superior game, since the PSx era, when we got what was called at the time "International Superstar Soccer Pro 98". PES was just the superior game, and in the time period from 98 to 2009, it was always the best choice. Most realistic football game, better ball physics, better everything (graphics i don't know). FIFA was a lot more arcade. But starting in 2009 as a heavy contender, the 2010 and 2011 iterations were just a different product, much better than previous efforts, and for the first time since 98, it became the best football game. PES feels like an old game, stuck in the past. Things changed for the better with PES2011, but Konami still has lots of work to do if they want to be on top again. Game modes are better in FIFA, the Be a Pro mode is better, gameplay is better. What i like the most in PES nowadays is the official UEFA Champions League and Copa Libertadores licences.
I was a huge PES fan, now i'm a huge FIFA fan, i always buy both games, and i always have the hope that PES will evolve to be a great game like it was some years ago.

I played both of the demos, so my opinion may not be worth much. But I liked FIFA better. My reasoning is because I'm a soccer noob and the slide tackling in FIFA seemed better. I apologize for this post.

FIFA forever. PES is fun, but the game doesn't have that liveliness to it. I have PES and FIFA 11, Fifa is fun especially with more than one person, PES is just...too quiet.

Thanks for the impressions, fellas. I had an inkling that FIFA would be the more popular choice. Anyone keeping an eye on what's to come with the 2012 editions? The tackling looks even more sweet in FIFA 12. I heard that Konami is gonna be showcasing PES 2012 at Gamescom: www.gamescom-cologne.com/en/gamescom/home/index.phpI'm looking forward to seeing how it stacks up to FIFA.
