Was there anyone that DID NOT like Batman:AA?

No seriously, i dont recall seeing really any dislike for the greatness that is Batman AA. Best superhero game to date imho, hands down. I dont recall a game ever really making you truely feel what its like to be a famous character like that of Batman AA.

heh, at the risk of a ban there are things I didn't like. I wish they would scrapped the combo system and used predator mode throughout. That was easily the best part of the game.

The funny thing is, and I am not sure how to put this into words, but I could see why someone wouldn't like it.

However, when you combine the atmosphere, history of the character, story, levels and some pretty good game play it really just lifts the whole game to another level.

I thought the game was awesome. As Buckfly said they did nail the atomosphere and just the feeling of being Batman. Just a great fun game. Can't wait for the next one.

I thought it was an awesome game but a tad overrated. I love the animations for the brawling but I didn't really like straight brawling or the bosses. The best parts were stealth stuff, the puzzles, and scarecrow stuff.

Solid game but I was expecting something truly amazing after reviews and user impressions. What I found was a solid game at its core that got terribly repetitive at points.

Overall they nailed the atmosphere and characters but I didn’t think it was amazing game...but a good one.


It may have to do that I really am not into Batman or comics in general.

That is the problem right there best, if youre not into Batman or comics there is no major attachment. But for fans like myself, im telling ya its simply the most smooth and incredible superhero game to date imho.

It would be like a true to life flying sim for people who love to fly in real life having an amazing experience, but someone that just isnt a fan wouldnt find it nearly as amazing, i think thats the same thing here brother

BTW, they also had me at Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as the Joker...the best Joker of all-time.

The first 10 minutes of the game, which is just the story setup and you walking with Joker, is not like the rest of the game at all. There's no way to gauge the gameplay of the game if you just play the first 10 minutes because you really don't do anything.

So there was no way an impression can be made of the gameplay. However, the opening sequence did a great job giving you the impression of the cinematics and atmosphere of the game, so I'm a bit puzzled how that aspect disappointed you.

I liked the game a lot, but there were things that I didn't enjoy so much. For instance an overly complex control system meant that trying to pick the game up after a couple of months away left me spending an embarrassing amount of time trying to remember how to do things like knocking out enemies that were on the ground. I'd stand over there bodies doing all sorts of useless crap looking like a moron until they eventually got to their feet again.

Also, I didn't like the whole detective vision mode thing. I had to constantly choose between the game looking attractive and being able to play well. The smart player would leave the enhanced vision mode on all the time, but then you have to look at boring, ugly visuals.

I will admit too Cane that HUD was a pretty awesome game....i really enjoyed that last gen.

I got through the opening sequence and into actual gameplay. Honestly, can't remember how long I played it.... maybe 10 minutes... maybe 30. I just know that I didn't care for it.

Thats a bummer Darv, i think weve had some good games this generation but once you really get into the meat and potatoes of that game its pretty amazing. Especially all of the bat toys you eventually get, zipping around, batarangs...just was a blast. You should give it a try again dude. Ive done that with games where i just didnt care for them only to go back and find the light.

I've done that with a few as well, Seth. Infamous was one of those for me.

After all the praise for AA in this thread, I may go ahead and give it another shot. Since I'm no longer MMO'ing, I've got more time to waste.

I agree. Like I said I did enjoy the game and beat it. I appreciated the atmosphere and I have seen most of the Batman movies etc but never touched the comics but the game did educate me with some of the comic characters that never made it into the movies.

I did know Mark Hamill was the joker in the cartoons etc and he did an amazing job for the game minus the repetitive lines he would shout out during gameplay.

Overall it is a very good game and if you are a true fan of Batman I could see how one would say it is “amazing".

I will play the next one for sure because it seems much more epic in scale.
