Batman: Arkham City box art unveiledWarner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today released the official front of box art for Batman: Arkham City. The game will be available from October 21st in the UK for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Games for Windows PC and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.
Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City – five times larger than the game world in Batman: Arkham Asylum – and the new maximum security “home” for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new, all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.
Batman: Arkham City is based on DC Comics’ core Batman license. Seriously???
Why do they need to emphasize the blood as if this game were an over-the-top violent, grim take on the hero.
That little splash of blood on the cover makes me almost not want to buy the game just on that basis alone. Do I really want my kids flipping through the game cases (not that they'd be allowed to play it anyway) and seeing their super-hero friend Batman with blood splatter on his fist? Any game that has to rely on that type of thing to sell itself doesn't deserve my money.
Ninja Gaiden Black is my favourite game of all time, but I refused to buy the 360 version of NGII because of the ridiculous focus on over-the-top bloodiness. It's a real turn-off to me. I bought Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 specifically to support the reduced-blood version of the product. Guess that didn't help though, judging by NGIII's focus.

That's a really cool cover. It's a lot better than the North American cover IMO. But the blood is unnecessary. It would be better with just Batman looking over the city without blood splattered on him IMO.

I actually liked the other cover better. And I agree with Phasenox - this cover would look better without the blood. I'll still try the game, though. ;D

I like this cover but it just doesn't stand out to me as much as the other one did. And I agree with you guys about the blood splatter although it does add a bit of contrast in color to the case. Without the blood then the words "Arkham City" would kind of look like they're floating in space due to the red color. I think the blood on his knuckles is fine but I 100% disagree with the bloody nose/lip thing that's going on. That there just seems like a little too much - even though the image isn't very gory at all.
I guess I disagree with most of you guys though when I say I liked the other cover art better.
