That sucks. I hope it doesn't change in Jersey because as of right now I don't pay tax on Amazon.

I honestly clicked into this thread expecting to see something like "another earthquake has ravaged my glass picture frame collection" or something along those lines. But this information is troubling. I live in PA and we get taxed for everything as it is. I recently made an Amazon purchase but if I recall no sales tax applied. I can see it now...
Harrisburg is working to pass a bill stating that sales tax from Amazon is now going to be required. Probably something to do with funding the "Pot Hole Filling" department or some other ludicrous group who needs money. The government is a sham. Good thing I am politically neutral otherwise I'd be pretty upset with how things are run in this country. Personally, I say we go back to the Barter System. A truck of corn for 3 bushels of green beans! Who's with me?

Why would there be an internet tax for an area. Thats..thats....Ludicrous. It's such and abominable idea for the government to get some extra cheese in it's pockets for more flashy batons to beat us with.

When you are as broke as CA I guess you will do anything for a little extra dough. Glad they don't charge me tax still.

You're always supposed to pay sales tax on your internet purchases if your state has a sales tax of course. The onus was always on you to report it during tax time so it was a "honor" system.
Of course no one actually does this including me. Now they're forcing them to collect at the point of sale just like anything else.
In all honesty, all states should force them so there's no tax evasion. I wouldnt like it since I purchase almost everything online-- within reason of course, but that's just your debt to society using the roads and services available. If you don't like it, your beef is with the actual sales tax rate then.
