I was playing Bioshock 2 earlier and the game froze as I was saving for the night!!! Needless to say, my save got corrupted... To top it all off, the last autosave was a good 5 hours back....This has just turned me off the damn game... So pissed right now!

Same thing happened to me with Animal Crossing. You have this whole town with Golden shovels and money trees, everyone likes you, your house is gorgeous, yet you try to come back and the game is 5 months back. I'm with you man, Corrupt saves are the Devil's minions.

It amazes me that corrupt saves still happen. I thought we would have been rid of that when we put cartridges and memory cards behind us, but I suppose memory is memory and anything has the potential to become corrupt.

Nothing was worse than nearing the completion of a huge level in LittleBigPlanet, the one I felt would finally be a good contribution to the community of levels on there. My Playstation 3 then proceeded to corrupt itself somehow. When it back up and running, all my saves had been destroyed. The funniest part is that my published levels were still up there AS ME AS THE AUTHOR, but I couldn't edit them, and only had as much access as any other player. And of course my in-production level was incinerated.
I am happy to say, though that aside from that experience, I've avoided any really harmful save corruptions.

This happens A LOT with Minecraft. Really hope they find a way around it, but if your computer crashes while you're playing, the save file will become corrupt and your world will no longer be there. It only autosaves when you open up the Pause menu or quit the game, so the only thing I can say is... back up your saves!! I keep two copies of my Minecraft world; and every so often I quit the game, copy the save from the root file and paste it into my backup folder. Its' tedious, yes, but saves me a lot of agony in the long run.

That has pretty much happened to my TES IV: Oblivion save. It has about 300 hours on it and loading it up hoses my game. The one time I got it to run, I ended up playing on it with AutoSave off to complete Shivering Isles and the main story quests (about 5 hours of playtime) just to finish the game. I did try to save afterwards and it froze up my PS3 again.
I find myself being a save-a-holic now and save constantly across numerous save files. I think nowadays the most time I have lost in a game is maybe an hour.

I finally went back to the game...Still stings a little but now I am being more careful...I am save in mutliple slots so if it happens again I only lose 30mins-hour...What a pain tho.
