Saving up to buy a new one myself, almost have to for the new games out.
Mine will hit the 6 year mark in December.

Very nice, it'll be a crazy leap from a 8800. XFX is ftw, love the modder friendly warranty. The blower fans on those cards are pretty loud and a pain in the ass to clean compared to other models, though.

Yeah, my husband's 5870 and 6990 are both XFX. He loves the brand and I love the warranty. after reading reviews, I decided it was the best one to go with. It'll be here tomorrow, and I have to work the next 2 days!

Just paid off student loans, and no other debt, so we got a ton of money compared to before. Wanna splurge a little!

Congrats on the jump by the way, forgot to mention that earlier.

Wow... /slaps forehead.
I got a 560 ti soc. For some reason I had 460 in my head.
So we actually have the same performance level card.
Let's have a toast to max settings in high resolutions ~

Let's have a toast to max settings in high resolutions ~ 6970 is the next level up. GTX 560 TI's equal is the 6950 1GB. But hells yeah max settings, if only there were more games that actually used the cards to their full limits and less console ports.

I apologize for combo breaking this thread with all this high tech video card talk, but did you register to get the free Dirt 3 game? Haha! Actually, I think if I forked out some cash to, firstly, build a gaming PC, and secondly to have a wicked video card then I could possibly be a PC gamer. I do struggle with the keyboard/mouse deal though. I have never been able to get a handle on that combo. I'd have to hook my gear up to a nice tv too though as my 19" flat screen just won't cut it for gaming for me.

KB/M is awesome for shooters, most anything else, I just plug in a 360 controller for. And I love PC gaming! It's especially awesome on my 26" monitor with a 1920/1200 resolution...

Mud, you gotta do it man. Im tellin ya after so many years of gaming for me having a gaming PC is one of the greatest ways to game. Its not bad using m/kb combos at all once you do it a few times, BUT you can hook up your PS3 controller for a good portion of the games so thats not even a problem. And you dont even have to break the bank anymore, alot of the gear is overkill these days still...you can build a machine that would do very well with most games, but its so worth it. CN, i know...eventually ill get one although my 295 still from what most PC techs have told me is a card that can do as much as other cards out there, but maybe not quite as good...its a good card, buying a new one is just because i got the itch but not because i truely need it!

According to www.guru3d.com/article/gigabyte-gtx-560-ti-soc-review/1 : Ahh, non reference factory OCed GTX 560 TI, I would be surprised if it didn't equal a stock clocked 6970 at those clock speeds since reference design trades blows with the 6950, and the 6950's just an underclocked 6970 with some deactivated shaders (essentially, anyway). If your warranty allows it, you should tweak the voltage a tad higher, you could probably take it over 1025 core with ease and slip out a bit more performance. But back at the main argument which started all this: a stock clock GTX 560 is equal to a stock clock 6950 1GB, both which lose out to stock 6970/GTX570, so in terms of stock reference designs, which was what I was speaking of before since the 6970 our lovely CastlevaniaNut18 bought is reference, and assumed yours was reference because you didn't mention otherwise. Wow, I gotta research PC stuff more. I'm so lost in all this! I have basic knowledge of hardware, but I rely heavily on my husband for help with this stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I love PC gaming, but computer stuff is my husband's specialty, so he just helps me out a ton. If it weren't for him, I probably would still be stuck on consoles.
