(It’s been too long since I’ve done a review so ill be posting 3 as fast as I possibly can.)
Ahhh NBA Jam; the crazy commentator, the crazy dunks, it’s the most fun sports game of the SNES, wait...they remade it? Does it still have the same Roster!? No! So like, Lebron is in it….DAMNIT! Whatever fine, at least it’s still fun, I think…
Story 10/10
Are you for real? A Story, for a basketball game, like when?! There is none, just dunk on your friends and smile about it. The only thing remotely close to a story is Remix Tour, Where you go around the USA playing all the NBA teams with the new arcade like modes. It is a rather great addition to the game as because you can unlock legends like Larry Bird, and even unlock the mascots to play as!
Visuals 8/10
Listen up you 6th graders, the graphics mean nothing with this game. It is just like the SNES game, animated audience, flaming dunks, easy to shoot threes, and big heads. The Characters are just real life pictures of the people glued onto an animated version of their bodies. So safe to say, character models=No, Dunks=yes.
Sound 10/10
“He’s quick, like a rabbit on a pogo stick!” If you’re listening to this game for music, you’re stupid and need help; the real star of this game is the commentator. He says the most randomness of things and it blends in with the wackiness of the game. “Sweet Potato Caesural” just never gets old when you dunk from half court…
Gameplay 5/10
There are well, good and bad. Let me be honest, there are a lot of bad. Starting up the game and going straight into a 2v2 Game, the first thing that may piss you off is the shoving. I hated it in the first game and I hate it in this game. They get caught up in their feelings and push you down soon as the tipoff is done. And they don’t stop until the last 3 seconds of the game. Another bad thing is the Remix Tour, yes it adds more to the game, but it’s really not that fun. Facing Boss Battles, you’ll soon start to realize that they are all cheap, but beatable, yet it will still have you punching in your TV after 40 minutes of losing; Safe to say that this game is really and indeed only good with more than one person.
Overall 8.25/10
The game is very fun, and is the funfest when with more than your imaginary friend Gary. If your playing this for a story, look somewhere else, but if you’re looking for a nice retro feeling game where you get to dunk from the other 3 point line, then this is the game for you.
