Ah Rainbow Six; Probably one of the most innovative tactical shooters in the gaming industry. Vegas is, just like most of the other Tom Clancy games, is an adaptation of a book series, or book title. This game is kind of old, but still to this day people still play it. Yet does it live up to the high expectations of the Tom Clancy game series?
-Story- 8/10(Spoiler Warning)
Starting off the game it takes place in the year 2010. You play as Rainbow operative Logan Keller with your comrades Gabriel Nowak and Kan Akahashi. You are sent on a mission to a Border Town in Mexico assisted by intelligence officer Joanna Torres and pilot Brody Lukin. Your Objective is to detain Irena Morales, a Terrorist Ringleader. Fast roping down and going through an old church you take out baddies. You then go through the factory, then the railroads, then into the tunnels to find Irena, but before you detain her, she blows the place up leaving you for dead and kidnapping your teammates. You try to go in by yourself bout to do it Die Hard style but Joanna stops you saying that Vegas is under attacked by the Same Terrorist Group. Now you must go through this crazy Movie like adventure through the city of Vegas after Irena and your Teammates. Along the way you are given two new Teammates named Simply, Michael and Jung. The Ending is a Twissttt, and I won’t spoil that for you. Any who it ends with the To Be Continued screen, which makes you want to go to GameStop and pay $13 for the sequel to see how it ends. The story invokes the player into it more and more, and has you Play it, but as always, there is a downside. At Moments where they force you to do things it makes the game feel broken at times such as when you (WARNING SPOIL DON’T READ UNLESS WANTED)kill Irena, I shot her dead in the face with a shotgun, but she only had 1 bullet whole in the hip; another broken moment is if you were like me and shot the helicopter down when Kan betrays you, you can see the helicopter go spiraling down and crash in a distant, but if you played the second game you know he doesn’t die.(END SPOILERS) The story is good but I wish it wasn’t just basic missions of save a hostage, defuse a bomb, clear the area, I wish it had more meaning to it.
-Visuals- 6/10
Biggest Downfall of this game; the graphics are indeed good, but loading screens make it seems like they fail. When you’re loading a game, you don’t want it to load the map first, THEN the Graphics, that’s just not cool. At least if you’re going to do that don’t tell us, but they do in the boldest way possible. Even after that loading screen and starting, the graphics start like PSX graphics then gradually soften and look better. The Guns look realistic but the blasts look too, Golden eye 64ish. The Terrorist are generic between about 10 different models.
-Sound- 3/10
Horr..ible. The Music, wait a minute there is no music, if you call 2 songs a soundtrack for a game, you fail, big time. The a lot of the guns sound the same, and the Terrorist sound like their saying Gibber gabber, with just the lolwut moments where terrorist will yell something stupid like “SUCK MY VGANGUN BITACH” out of nowhere. Another highly annoying moment(s) is when you’re telling your teammates to go silent or open and clear. Enemies could everywhere you’re sneaking and you tell your team to go silent and if you’re more than 10in away from them you’re going to yell and ruin your cover. And your teammates use their radios when they’re right INFRONT of you.
-Gameplay- 4/10
So Repetitive I had to bold it.You Rush In kill armies of terrorist and call it a day. The Guns are all realistic and gameplay feels like you’re really in a shootout which is a Pro, but they’re so many Cons to the game. You can shoot any enemy in the arm with a machine gun 20 times, and he won’t die, but he shoots you a pistol in the leg and you die. And the Enemies always, and I repeat always throw flash bangs and Frags. Really makes the game annoying to play. Online is fun though, with Ranking and Customizing available. The Ragdoll physic is funny at times, but half the time wtf moments. If you played Halo 3 you know sometimes people’s bodies go flying everywhere stretching and filling your screen, yeah that happens here too, and it happens a lot.
-Overall- 5.25/10
I definitely recommend buying the second one, not to get me wrong this game is fun. But it just makes me want to snap it in two sometimes. The Second fixes many problems with the first, as this one was still, fun, but its basically just a beat the story mode and put it on the shelf type of game.
