I agree it doesnt seem to have the TLC that DA:O got, but im playin DAII now and its really not THAT bad...i mean might be a little simple in some areas and i realize the top down view is a huge aspect but, the game for what it is...i dont think its that bad!

I actually like a lot of the new stuff in DAII. The new combat mechanisms, cross-class combos, dialogue wheel, etc all added a lot to the game. That being said, I hate that I can't customized the armor for my party members. I also think the story in 2 is way less compelling than DA:O.

the fact there's just one main town bothers me. i got sick of kirkwall after the first 20 hrs of it ;p
also not equipping party members irked me since it took away RPG elements.
but the interface was nice. the graphics were nice. i prefer having a voiced MC although it cuts down a bit on the "RPG"ing of it all.
some of the story elements seemed off since they didnt take into account a lot of my choices in da:o.
but overall i enjoyed it.

I thought it was a really good game. I loved it. There were certain aspects that were irritating, like the lack of armor customization. About 90% of the stuff I had to junk cause I couldn't use it =/ Although it made sense to stay in Kirkwall the whole time, it did get really irritating and tiresome.

I didn't mind DA 2 much. It was nowhere near as good as the original, but not bad.

I loved it. I do wish there was more towns but I thought the game was laid out well enough that I never got bored with Kirkwall. I was to busy enjoying the game and the story and the characters. Loved that they gave a voice to your character too. I just really love BioWare.

The thing about Bioware is you get a clean, slick, game....and i think DA2 maybe not perfect is a really sleek game overall. I think the graphics are pretty awesome if you ask me.

I think reviews (the ones that weren't astroturfed/paid off) speak for themselves (4.2/10 user score on metacritic with 3000 reviews). It flopped pretty hard. Compared to the first Dragon Age, it's a monumental step backwards. Less character customization (where's my dwarf?), copy pasted caves everywhere, low res textures (especially on PC) unless you mod it with the high res texture patch, which should have been in the game on release to begin with (I'm looking at you as well, Crysis 2 DX11 patch), less tactical gameplay and more hack and slash (compared to the first).
I personally believe that it was THAT bad, and it makes me worried for future Bioware games when they're focusing on quantity (new game each year) and not quality. I personally would rather wait 2-3 years in between sequels and get a phenomenally quality game than shovelware each year that lacks quality.

Bad? Not at all. Worse than Origins? Absolutely. It was obvious they spent less time on development and had to cut several corners because of it. I appreciate the upgrades to combat (for console gamers), but that was the only thing I liked better. Origins was superior in almost every other way.
Some of the professional and user reviews were downright stupid for this game, but what can you expect from disappointed fans?

The game was super repetitive and I gave up on it I think 15 hours or so in.

I didn't like the demo so I never bothered with the game... even when you could get it for $14.99 (recent Best Buy sale and coupon deal). It seemed like a big step backward... or at least in a direction that doesn't appeal to me.

I wanted DA to be the spiritual successor to Baldur's gate, and on some level it was even though the mechanics were different.
DA2 slapped that in the face.. even if the story/mechanics were good.. I wanted more complexity and even more BG type play not more console kiddie rpg crap.
just my take on it

I think Bioware is starting to take too much of the rp out of their rpg's. They are making their current stuff into adventure games, but still refer to them as rpg's.
