Okay, in our house we have 2 DSi XL's and 1 PSP. The two Nintendo units I bought for the kids and the PSP is mine.
I had a phat DS until about 3 years ago (those damn hinges broke!) and I played the crap out of that thing. After it's fateful demise, I purchased a PSP and played it moderately.
But I never have really been as into the PSP as I was the DS. And now that we have DSi's in the house, I'm playing those a lot more than I did the PSP.
Not sure why exactly, but I've just really enjoyed the DS much more than the PSP. And this is coming from somebody who's been all Sony since since PS1. Didn't own a N64 (originally that is) or Gamecube. After I had my first DS, Nintendo won me back and I got a Wii though.
So what do you/did you play more? PSP or DS?

DS, easily.
Games made for the DS really seem to get the concept of handheld gaming better. IE, they make it easy to pick up and play for a couple minutes or for a couple of hours. Having a pretty long battery life helps, too.
I try to get into PSP games but either they have few save points, forcing you to play perhaps longer than you wanted to, and then when I do get engrossed, the battery life is shorter so I end up having to sit by a wall outlet. I mean that's not all the time, but to me, the PSP plays more like a console than a handheld and in general the features of it defeat the purpose of it being a handheld.

DS but that is because the DS library easily destroys pretty much any handheld library ever made in terms of amount of awesome games, variety, and availability!

DS for sure. It's has such an amazing library.
The PSP has some great games too, and when a great one comes out, I end up shelving the DS for a while, and just soak in some PSP goodness.
But most of the time, it's all about the DS. It's my favorite system ever!

PSP, easily.
Games made for the PSP really seem to get the concept of handheld gaming better. IE, they make it easy, with sleep mode, to pick up and play for a couple minutes or have you glued to the system for hours on end. The PSP is the best of both worlds. Having a decently long battery life helps, too.
DS gaming is great too. I own both systems but the PSP just has the more complex console like games I simply can't live without. To name just one example, The PSP has Star Wars Battlefront Elite Squadron. No other handheld has this type of experience. The DS has a version but it pales in comparison as it's not even the same kind of game.
In my opinion, the PSP has the better library of games I want to play.

I see what you did there. On a note, though, you mention sleep mode. And that's a great feature; however, it still drains the battery faster than being able to save and turn the system off. The games I play on the PSP are primarily games I can only get on the PSP, or games that I want on a portable system so I can take them on the go. Like Persona 3 for instance. And Persona 3 is the kind of game where if you go in the dungeon, there's maybe one save point for five floors of dungeon. I've actually had instances where I couldn't get to a save point and so I put the system in sleep mode, and the battery dies and I have just lost all my progress. It can be kind of frustrating. But the battery life and system specs aren't the reason I prefer the DS, anyway. In my opinion, the DS has the better library of games I want to play.

The DS has the bigger library of games I want to play so by default I play it more. But I like both equally.

I'll probably be posting a review for it within 1-2 weeks. All depends on when I finish.

But the battery life and system specs aren't the reason I prefer the DS, anyway. In my opinion, the DS has the better library of games I want to play. Sure, sleep mode drains the battery but it literally drains it at 1% a day so I never turn my PSP completely off. I have always used sleep mode no matter if I'm the middle of a game or in the menu. I use my PSP every day and always have it plugged in charging if I'm not using it. I also play many digital games so I can get about 5-6 hours from a charge with full brightness. If I bought the extended battery pack, I'd get 11 hours but I really don't need it. So, hearing that your battery dies after using sleep mode can only mean you leave your system in sleep mode way too long and should really plug it in when not in use, or your battery is on it's way out. The DS has a sleep mode as well, which is just folding the system closed but it actually drains the batter faster then the PSP's version.

I think it's just a bad battery, probably. I don't play with full brightness or even volume most of the time and it still seems like it only gets like four hours of play time. I don't play it enough to keep it charged all the time, though.
