I just got a 3DS, and while I'm content with the console and my copy of Splinter Cell, I think it would be nice for people looking for good games to get some recommendations form the community.

I was thinking about trading in my DSI and getting one. Do you think it's worth it? It plays ds games anyway right? Bc then I'm thinking there is no reason to keep my dsi.

Personally I'd suggest getting one, but I know people who would disagree. It's going to be getting some great games, and given Nintendo's statement that their E3 would be 3DS centered, I'd guess that we'll see a lot more great stuff coming out way soon.

I think Ghost Recon Shadow Wars is the biggest surprise. I am so addicted to it. I've been playing it every chance I get since I bought it.
Shadow Wars it a strategy rpg, similar to the likes of Fire Emblem or Advance Wars. There's a lot to do in it, since you can play through the campaign, play skirmishes, and there's also multiplayer battles. Additionally, you can complete each of them on three different difficulty levels.
And as I posted in another thread, I don't know why people think the graphics are bad. I think it looks amazing, especially if you have the 3D all the way up.
If strategy rpgs don't do it for you, though, Street Fighter is amazing. There's a lot to do in that, and you can play against other people online.
Ridge Racer is great if you like racing games. It only has local multiplayer but there's a lot of single player stuff to do. You can do a Grand Prix, or there are just single races.

I love strategy rpgs. Sounds like I'll have to pick it up. Is the 3DS roughly the same form factor as the DSI? Because I do love the DSI form factor.

You'll have to forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is form factor?

The 3DS is very similar looking, but seems to looks a bit more shiny and reflective with more curves. to me, and I'll even admit that sometimes I just look to grab a glance of it to see how great it looks.

Oh yeah, the 3DS is a very shiny piece of hardware. I got the Aqua Blue one (which is more green than it looks on the box) and I just look at it sometimes and I'm like "Man that thing is so cool." I haven't really seen the black one, though.

The 3DS is a nice piece of hardware. I have the shiny black one - slightly fatter than my DSi.
I picked up Street Fighter, which is a great translation for the 3DS. However mostly I've been playing a DS game, Dragonquest IX, which is phenomenal.
I've read that some games scale better than others to the 3DS screen, but DQ IX seems to scale really well.
I'm looking forward to some of the big upcoming releases such as Zelda and the new Pacman/Galaga. Kid Icarus and Starfox both also look good.
Sounds like Splinter Cell may be worth picking up.

My favorite so far is SSF IV. MY first fighting game I've seriously put time into and I'm loving it!
Really ready for the 3D Ocarina of Time though! I never finished it on N64 and I think I'll just leave that copy on my shelf as a collector's item and play the 3D version.

I'm going to add a second vote for Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars. It's a really great SRPG that completely took me by surprise.
I'm also going to recommend Samurai Warriors: Chronicles. It's a pure hack and slash warriors game, but I find myself strangely addicted to it. I believe I've put about 20 hours into it and I still need to unlock some more missions and characters.

DQ IX is the first one I've played. The combat system is so addicting and the pick up and play aspect with the DS/3DS is perfect for this game. From what I've ready, the next DQ game I should get is VI - agree? Also - Amazon has a nice sale on right now where you can buy any two 3DS games for $55.
