So I got a 3DS, but the touch screen is squishy

So I've noticed that the touch screen feels a little... plush... in the center. When I press there, there is a tiny, but notable depression. Almost as if there are two layers and I'm pressing on the top layer and it sends it's signal when the top layer makes contact with the bottom layer. Around the bottom and edges of the screen it's not like that. It makes it such that you have to press slightly harder and more deliberately in the center of the screen.

For reference, I grabbed my son's DSLite and it doesn't do that.

Is it normal? Is it something that goes away as the screen gets broken in? Or is it a defect in manufacturing that should be returned?

It's not something I've ever noticed on a DS, but last night as I was trying to type on the touch keyboard, I was really noticing it. It feels like my son's DS near the edges, but there is a definite different feel as you move from the edges towards the center. I removed the screen protector and that seems to have made it less "squishy" feeling, like the top layer now requires less force to depress it, but the depression is still noticable.

I haven't decided if it's something I'm ok with or whether I should exchange it.

Interesting, ill be curious to hear what someone says on this too incase it is a defect perhaps. Stuff like that bug me too, so i know where youre coming from Nac.

Mine doesn't do that. I'd take it in, ask them about it and see if their willing to replace it.

Well now i know to make sure to check for a squishy screen the minute i get my 3DS!
