Currently considering getting a 3DS, but I'm being indecisive.
+ I'd really like to get into 3D gaming, but can't afford a 3D TV for my PS3 right now. + I like Nintendo games + It's available now + I only ever played the first 5 hours or so of Ocarina of Time + If I get it now, I can get Excitebike for free + If I get it this week, I can get $20 off of a game + My kids all have DS's. I can play system-link games with them.
- PSVita is coming out in less than a year - PSVita is the same price - PSVita is more powerful - PSVita has dual analogue - I like trophies - I have a massive backlog of games already and not a ton of time to play them - It took me a long time to save up enough loose change to get a 3DS. Is there something else I'd rather spend the money on? Save up for a Wii U perhaps? - 3DS might have a hardware revision in the next year or two that will grant it better battery life and then I'll wish I'd waited.
The fact that I have an enormous selection of gaming options already and hundreds of games in my backlog means that there's no way my wife will be ok with me buying more systems out of the family money. The only reason I'm getting away with being able to buy something guilt-free now is that I've spent two years saving up my loose pocket change in a jar and now have enough saved to buy without touching the bank accounts. So buying both would be a real uphill battle with my wife.

Go for it Nacster! I am! I think the 3DS is going to kill it in time now and i think Ocarina of Time is more than enough reason to own one! What I would do is just buy the 3DS now and chip away 5-10 bucks in an envelope maybe for a Vita when it comes out...thats generally how i do it when i think i may get wife "aggro"

Yeah, go ahead and get the 3DS. It's pretty awesome. Lots of games are out, and many more will be by the end of the year. I'll need lots of people on my Friends List anyway when Resident Evil: The Mercenaries drops next week. I wanna do online co-op!

Hey, you moved my thread to the board with very little traffic. I gotta keep order my brother in arms but the only way to get traffic here is to post here so! Dont worry, just keep plugging away in different areas..the more people post in areas the more they will populate. If we look at the areas now and go no one posts there, and dont try to help it ourselves than that wont work either

Heh I got the issue too of whether to get a 3DS or not.
But I really don't do much portable gaming. It just doesnt suit me much. I love VC but i have been dragging my feet through VC2. I still havent beat Jeanne D'Arc although I thought that was a fun game.
But there's usually enough games that I don't get entirely bored it either.
Personally if I could choose between PSVita and 3DS then Id get the 3DS.

I'm going to admit I'm biased but I would get the 3DS. Besides OoT, there's a lot of great Nintendo games coming out this year. Super Mario 3D, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus, and Starfox all look really awesome. And Mario Kart will probably be online.
Besides the physical games, there is also DSiWare and the 3DS eshop to take advantage of. The Virtual Console stuff is only a couple games so far, but there will probably be more over the coming months.
You can play DS games on it, so if there are any games you missed, you can catch up on them. And also as you mentioned, if you play DS games on the 3DS you can still link up with other DS gamers.
The PSVita will not use UMDs so if you already have a library of UMD games, you will probably still have to keep your old PSP unless they offer the games digitally somehow.
