So good JRPGS on PSP/ DS?

I know there are lots, but what would you guys recommend?

I have:

DS
Chrono Trigger
DQ V
DQ IX
Pokemons
TWEWY
FF III (meh)

PSP:
Star ocean 1
KH Birth by sleep
Persona
And one or two others that I cannot seem to find

I know there are more that are great. Please no strategy RPGs. How are the Ys games? I do want to get Radiant Historia. What all else should I consider?

Ys games are amazing, Oath in Felghana is incredible and so is Ys VII. The 1 and 2 collection i havent picked up for PSP yet but ive played them and they are also amazing games.

Others for PSP are Brave Story, thats a class jrpg. One of my favorites as well.

Dragon Quest VI for DS is awesome and a must own since you have 4 and 5. Man i need to look at my pile of games, because there are a ton of great rpgs on both systems.

final fantasy IV remake for DS or the new version for PSP

either Shin Megami Tensei game for DS

Suikoden Tierkreis for DS

Oh yea my bad, i dont know why i thought IX was 4, you mean DQ9 yea 4 and 6 are awesome, as Cn said Suikoden is also incredible.

FFIV for PSP, cant go wrong there

I've considered FF IV, only thing is I've played it on PS1.

Yea but this is 10x better, not only does it look amazing and i mean amazing for a remake. It includes the after years which are a bunch of chapters that were released on the Wii that extends the story. It brings in new characters, new quests etc...its pretty awesome for all of that being packed into one game.

Well worth it for any rpg collection i think man.

Breath of Fire III (Only if you didn't play it on the PSX. You'll have to import from Australia or Europe. But the PSP is region free and it's not that expensive to do)

I second the mention of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn for the DS. I had a great time with that game.

Looks like a typical strategy RPG battle from the videos I've seen.

Most strat rpgs have no world to roam, its just storyline then to battle and a huge map to battle in.

Trails has a regular rpg layout, walk around in the world, towns etc...typical rpg. But the battles are a more of a grid based system but still turn based.

I just ordered it actually, dyin for my copy to arrive.

No, it's not a SRPG just because you think it looks like one. It may incorporate a element that SRPG's also use and that causes you to dislike it, but it doesn't make the game a SRPG.

I've played and beaten the game, and have played an actual SRPG afterwards, and I can tell you there's a WORLD of difference between how the 2 games played.
