Crazy news. I was shocked but I guess that it got to a point where there was too much for them to allow him to stay. I wonder how much stuff that he was hiding.
As much as I hate OSU. I don't wish the NCAA on anyone. They make our government look like the best run organization on the planet.

The way they conduct business and get away with some of the things that they do is... fascinating.
Oddly enough I was sitting in a room full of football fans last Wednesday watching the South Park episode that touched on their business habits. They didn't get it.

He should have been outright fired. The stuff that guy let go or looked the other way on is mindboggling. I hate Ohio State but always had the utmost respect for him but turns out he is a hypocrite. It is so easy to teach about doing the right things but when you are put in the place where you can practice what you preach then you need to practice it.

That Southpark was great. I enjoyed it.
Tressell cheated at Youngstown State before he got to OSU. So, it should be be a surprise to anyone. They may have mountians of dirt on him.
I also am pretty sure that they fired him. By resigning, I do not think that he gets any more money. There is no buy-out in his contract though so who knows. I'm not too concerned as I'm sure that he'll be fine.

I'm not too concerned as I'm sure that he'll be fine. This. It allows him to save some face while opting out of his contract. Had they fired him, there is probably a clause that would require them to pay him. Maybe not the full value of the contract, but at least a percentage. I realize I didn't comment on the actual situation, just the NCAA. Tressell might be one of the better in-season coaches, but his post-season stats (as of late) are awful. With the talent that OSU has now/has had I feel this might turn out to be a good thing for them. As far as his conduct, it's pretty much been stated. He's a hypocrite and a scoundrel.

The SI article is pretty damning. He looks pretty awful in there.
I imagine that a lot of schools have this going on though. Pryor getting tons of stuff to then trade for money is pretty bad though.

When I said they should have fired him outright I meant more like many weeks ago. I realize that with the resignation he probably doesn't get any money. I mean I don't know his contract but I am sure there is a cause clause in there that they wouldn't have had to pay him.
I also understand that they wanted him to save face but this is ridiculous. Sure he won a NC but at what cost. He should have been canned weeks ago instead they were hoping it would just go away. I mean some of the things that were going on. I can only think hypocrite.

This is the part of College Football that I don't like. I'm not an OSU fan but it is definitely not the only school with this sort of activity happening. Pete Carroll jumped to the NFL just in time to avoid the NCAA at USC.
This is really bad for the Big 10 overall too. OSU was their best national contender.

I agree they should have fired him but he's a good coach and they aren't easy to come by.
I think that this stuff goes on all over as well. It's just a matter of catching the right people.

Agree with all posts above me, no way he could stay after all the crap that's come out in the press. I know it sounds crappy of me to say but a big victim in all this was the AR Razorbacks! (My team) The NCAA should never have let those OSU players play in the Sugar Bowl to begin with. It's just gone down hill for the program since then.
Of course AR should have taken care of business in that game regardless but... what can I say... saw an opportunity to gripe lol.

Yeah, I'll never understand how they got to play in the bowl game.
Of course, you guys played like trash. You came out too flat and couldn't come back. Your WRs dropped the ball way too much.

I'd love to disagree but I cannot, we finally got on a big stage and collapsed under the pressure. Oh well, Can 't wait till september baby!

Yes and you had the QB that my team(Michigan) originally had in Mallet. Oh well. Yes it was ridiculous that they were allowed to play. But it always comes down to money. If those guys didn't play who would watch and I am sure they(NCAA) would have lost a boatload of money. Hypocrites!!

Football is getting closer. I can't wait. We just need the NFL to decide to play.

8 game season would be ridiculous. I mean seriously why bother? That is a joke and you can't determine a playoff seating and a champion based on that garbage.

I think that is a rumor. They did an 8 game season one strike year.
They had Peter King on local radio and he said that he thinks that it might be done soon. We aren't hearing much in the media and they are meeting. He said that is the best sign that a deal is close. If either side was pissed then we would know about it.
