And who do you want to win the Champions League, Manchester United vs Barcelona? I want Chicharito to score.. but I kinda want Barcelona to win. Also, no soccer board... so I posted here

Yeah, i've been watching it all my life practically, but that is not abnormal in Europe ManU vs Barca is a classic final and probably the best 2 teams right now in Soccer facing off... looking forward to it and won't call a favorite, they're so balanced with maybe a slight edge toward Barca but really, everything's possible!

I'm a casual soccer fan, I enjoy it but it's hard for me to get games up here that aren't MLS. My team is Birmingham City FC in the EPL, my grandmother was born in Birmingham.
As for the Champion's League, I'm rooting for Barca, Messi is an amazing player and I just can't help but root for the guy.

By the way, I'm just going to move this to the General Sports forum (it exists there just aren't any posts as they are all in the specific forums )

I played soccer growing up and have always enjoyed it. I am a fan when I can watch it. I have actually watched more EPL this year than every since we have a 1 year old I am always up by 7 on Saturday so I would usually throw on a game.
I don't really have a team. I just watch.
I will miss not having the world cup this summer. I love the world cup.
I will likely pull for Man U in the title game. I think that Barcelona will win though. Messi is sick.

Die hard Football/Futbol/Futebol/Fussball (as in the German name for the sport, not table football), whatever you want to call it My team is Sport Lisboa e Benfica, mostly know as Benfica, from the Portuguese First Division. We had a bad season, i hope we can do much much better next season, but we're going to lose Fábio Coentrão to Real Madrid (after we lost Di Maria last season to Real Madrid as well). Damn you Mourinho, stop signing our players

Soccer fan reporting for duty! I'll copy/paste a post I made on another forum not too long ago. A little history about me/my involvement in the sport:
-In the 1980s/early 1990s I was heavily involved with the sport as a kid. I played for almost 10 years in the C.F.Y.S.L. (Central Florida Youth Soccer League). -I moved to the burbs of Atlanta in 1993 and quit once it became apparent that there was little community interest in the sport. -I moved to Central TX in the Fall of 2009 and quickly became aware that soccer is a popular sport in this region. My wife is from San Antonio originally, and I recently learned that they were getting a NASL franchise that will begin play next year. As a result, my interest has risen once again. -I started playing Fifa 2011 and I am even more interested now in learning more about the state of pro soccer throughout the world.
I will obviously start rooting for my wife's hometown team soon, but I am also interested in The Barclays Premier League. For a few months now, I have been following Tottenham and I've all but become a passionate follower. I'd love to start following some of the other leagues, but the only channel I get on my cable is Fox Soccer Channel, and they tend to show mostly Premier League and Champions League. Would love to catch some La Liga and Mexican Soccer League.

If you ever catch a Benfica game in the Portuguese League or in the European Competitions, you know who you should root for

Anyone happen to watch US v Guadalupe last night in the Gold Cup? Man... Americans looked pretty bad. They had so many chances and only capitalized on one of them. Dempsey played like crap all night. It won't surprise me if Jamaica eliminates them on Sunday.

I don't really get your national team. I don't see you doing anything great in your regional competitions, but when it comes to the big international competitions like the World Cup, you always play some great football and can upset teams like Spain (i remember the Confederations cup). What's wrong with you guys? And i won't forgive you for that 3-2 win over Portugal in South Korea in 2002 :x
Ok, i forgive you. Our manager at the time was a f**** moron. I wasn't surprised when we couldn't get past the group stage.

Haha. I have no idea what's up with our national team. You're right, though. They seem to show up for a lot of international competition, but then they lose to Panama in the Gold Cup. Not to take anything away from Panama, but man... it's hard to watch these guys play sometimes. Need lots of beer.

No one likes to score on our team. Altidore is finally showing some flashes but he needs to do more. The Panama loss is awful. Barely winning the other two games is bad too. It's not like we drew Costa Rica like Mexico did.

André Villas Boas going to Chelsea. I would never pay 15 million for Villas Boas, but oh well, Abramovich just needs to let the oil run for 5 minutes and he gets the money. But i don't think Villas Boas is worth the 15 million.
And now i hope Chelsea don't win any competition next season.

Can't believe how much chelski paid for villa boas, it's nuts. Only 33 too, makes me think I've wasted my life. His story of how he got Into the game is almost fairytale like. I'm a die hard student of the game, eat, sleep and drink football. I have a big sattelite on a motor and I watch football over 10 sattelitesevery week. I'm a man utd fan and had a season ticket up until 2008-09 but I couldn't keep it up in the end, I've also used football to travel all over Europe to watch games following England and man utd: I've also been to a few barcalona games at the camp nou and a few juventus games all at stadio del alpi. I'm a bit gutted about alexi sanchez choosing to go to barca as man utd had bid for him and I had hoped he would come, he was my number one target for man u. Seems like they are going to sign Ashley young which I'm not too excited about, but phil jones is an awesome signing. Should keep the man utd defence solid for the next 13-14 yrs barring injuries etc. I really hope we get sneijder now but I don't think it will happen this year now but very likely next year providing chelski don't throw all their dirty cash at him

Well, the U.S. got their revenge on Panama tonight, so they will most likely be facing Mexico in the Gold Cup final. U.S. will need to play a flawless game to win...

Saturdy at 9 PM. On Univision. I don't know if I can watch it in Spanish. You would think that at least one network would pick it up.

I imagine that someone will pick it up. I've seen all the U.S. Gold Cup games on Fox Soccer Channel, so if nothing else, they will have it.

Well, U.S. looked great for the first 25 minutes or so! lol. Mexico came back with a vengeance after that. I honestly expected as much, but I was really hoping it wouldn't. Let's hope that this loss won't hurt the sport's popularity in the country, yet again.

4-2 in the end, that's some bad luck man. But Mexico have a great crop at the moment. I did actually fancy USA for this game too. They always perform on the big stage. The sport is progressing there and with the set up that the states have with sports etc I think they will be a force within the next 15 yrs or so

It was a solid 25 minutes. I was somewhat shocked. Somethings that really bothered me. Cherundalo being subbed at 10 minutes? What? Unless he was hurt and I didn't see that then it was terrible coaching on 2 fronts. Wasting a sub and taking out one of our best defenders.
Mexico's second goal was offisde. Sure, he didn't make a play on the ball but his position created the chance. Awful no call there.
Howard played pretty bad. He allowed 2 really soft goals.
All that being said; Mexico is better IMO. They are also more fun to watch.

Yeah, they are definitely more fun to watch. Howard ended up whining like a baby after the match. The entire post-game celebration was supposedly all in Spanish, and he went livid at the people in charge. I can understand how that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way (considering it was held in the U.S., not Mexico) but you have to show some decorum. Rather then bitch to the press about it, why not use it as motivation for future matches? Destroy your opponents on the pitch. Let out some steam that way.

I don't care that it was in spanish. Hell, I watched the game on Univision because I enjoyed the passion that the announcer (GGOOOOOAAALLL guy) and Balboa brought to the game. I couldn't understand a word but they were more enjoyable than their American counterparts.
Timmy was upset because he had his worst game ever for the US squad.
