Joystiq is reporting that Sony has announced a worldwide delay on the release of The Last Guardian.
The game has been bounced from its Holiday 2011 window and creative director Fumito Ueda says a new release will be announced at a later date.
Also included in the delay is The Ico and Shadow of the Colossus collection which will no longer be making the Spring 2011 release window.
Ueda says the reason for the delay is "to provide more challenging and better quality of content to users and to fulfill First Party Studio's obligations."
So basically, they couldn't get it finished in time.

I am more surprised by the ICO/Shadow delay. Not so much about TLG.

It will be well worth the wait. Do you feel that SCEJ lets their Japanese studios take to much time on games? This is a recent example and we have GT5 as an example as well.

Sony's always been like that, though. Worthwhile games take FOREVER to show up on Playstation. I mean, they eventually come, but waiting around is part of the deal when dealing with Sony. Remember, this is the company that thinks they can sell their system even if there weren't any games for it.
Hopefully the end product will be worth it. From what I understand, the last two games that took a while to show up on PS3 (GoW3, GT5) really weren't, so much.
