Metal will forever be my number 1, but I love tons of music in 60s 70s and 80s, I got to say 90s and 00s weren't really doing it for me.
Bur rock and metal has been a staple for me pretty much all my life.

I loved 80's metal and the glam rock scene but in the early 90's the Seattle scene took over for me. Nirvana kicked it off and I am huge on some Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, etc. I also love me some Toad the Wet Sprocket and Counting Crows. In fact Counting Crows mixed with their song Mrs. Potter's Lullabye is where I got my potterscrow from.

metal(but not the death metal, screaming, growling, etc) classic rock, easy listening, etc.
I'm basically open to anything besides hip hop, rap, and country

Metal is probably my favourite genre (My user name is just the name of a metal band, I'm not that creative with user names) but I'm always expanding what I listen to. I like a lot of old punk music, some things that are electronic/dance even, old rock music, some kinda country stuff like Johnny Cash and whatever genre you want to call Tom Waits.

I like pop, rap, r&b, and stuff like Linkin Park and Rise Against (I guess that would be considered rock).
Also, video game music and anime music is a staple of mine. ^_^
I listen to a lot of stuff, though. Even genres I don't like, for example country or heavy metal, there's always at least one song I'll listen to.

I pretty much appreciate everything except for current radio music.
My favorite genres though would probably be indie and 90's rock.

Yea current radio music is a bit hard on the ears Tom, would love to see some changeups....thats why for me especially in watching Idol this year, James Durbin is one hell of a metal vocalists. Id love to see a new popular band on mainstream that isnt a clone of nickeback or what have you.

Hey tomtim, did you watch any of those music videos that posted? I'm just curious to hear what you think of those genres of music since I'm not sure if you're familiar with them or not.

Yeah, I checked em out. I used to go to these clubs with my friends that are really into that scene and they would play those bands or at least bands that sounded identical to them. So I guess I'm somewhat familiar. At least regarding videos 1,2, and 4. I'm trying to think of bands names that I remember but all I can think of at the moment is diorama, wolfsheim, she wants revenge and covenant. I think it's pretty good. I like it for what it is. It's not something I would listen to on a regular basis though as it's not really my thing. I prefer the old school stuff like depeche mode or NIN if I were in the mood to listen to something like that.
I find video 3 to be really cheesy though. That's something I could never get into.

I prefer the old school stuff like depeche mode or NIN if I were in the mood to listen to something like that. I assume that you went to goth/industrial clubs since that's where they primarily play that type of music. It was bands like Depeche Mode, Front Line Assembly, Front 242, KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, etc. that got me into that type of music. I've been into it ever since. There's still a big underground following, which is bigger in Europe than in America. They even have festivals in Europe devoted to it. I find video 3 to be really cheesy though. That's something I could never get into. The video is cheesy, like most metal videos are. However, I like dark, dramatic, epic metal with female vocals like that every so often. As with most genres, there's good and bad. I wouldn't say that the video that I posted represents the best, but if you don't like it then chances are that it's probably not your thing. However, here's a video from Within Temptation which is one of my favorite symphonic metal bands. Maybe you won't think that it's as cheesy.
