Any power metal fans other than I??

Listening to some Iron Savior, this band kicks some azzola! But i listen to tons of it, on top of many other metal forms of metal...but power metal really just gets me rockin

What's the diff between power metal and regular metal? Is it the speed? lol

I never got that much into metal. It always seemed kind of cheesy to me. But I do enjoy the essentials. Pantera is still one of my favorite bands.

The difference is yea, the cheese factor hah...its more of a throwback to 80s metal more than anything, but alot of it is very fantasy oriented, alot of racing guitars etc...but its not all cheesy, let me give you an example Tom, sec...



Oh and yea, i love Pantera...legendary metal right there.

Reminds me of that old metal/punk mix aka suicidal tendencies era (at least initially). And then throw in a little hammerfall essence (reminds me of hearts on fire). There are some changes now that i'm listening to the whole thing. I like that.

You ever listen to dream theater? I haven't listened to them in a long time. I figure you would love them. They are from Long Island (me too).

Deftones are still one of my top bands. I consider them metal, just a diff style. More lush and influenced by bands like "The Cure" who is a personal favorite.

Oh yea, i love Dream Theater! Been listening to them guys for a long time now, great band. My new current obsession is a guy named Jorn Lande, the dude just is amazing...he is just in so many bands and has so many albums coming out, its great. He also did a recent tribute album called simply, "Dio"....and man it owns, check this out, im going to make a thread on it!

I saw Dream Theater when I was living in fla, like 6 yrs ago. I was wearing a pink floyd shirt and one of the venue people were like, if you have good taste, why are you hear for this shitty band? I was like are you kidding, dream theater is awesome. It was a great show too. Some people just don't have an open mind.

I like Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian and some other power metal bands. To Tomtin, you basically hit the nail on the head power metal is really traditional metal mixed with speed metal.
