It's based on some pretty popular books that I never heard of I decided to check it out because of the hype. The first 2 episodes are awesome so far. A little hard to follow because it seems to cater a bit to those who read the books. It's a fantasy universe where two kingdoms will end up going to war. It follows the story from both sides. Check it out for sure.

I have had so many people tell me I need to watch this show. I am hoping it is on demand because it is definitely an intriguing show.

If you have HBO, it is on demand. And if you haven't read the books, I suggest watching the extras they have up there as well. I made my boyfriend watch the ones about the family houses so he'd stop asking me questions while I'm watching the show.

My wife and I are loving it! She just went out and bought all the books now too.
Only two episodes in, but so many great characters already. Love the wolves too!

I tried to watch the first episode with my wife but she told me to turn it off ofter 10 mins. The first scene turned her off. I watched it by myself later. I was watching the 2nd episode and she sits down to play droidwords on my phone. Next thing I know she's getting into the show and she's asking me all these questions I don't really 100% know the answer to lol.
So she wanted to watch the first episode, which was good for me too because it gave me a better understanding of what was going on.

I had to watch the first episode twice to make sure I understood who everyone was.

Yeah, it seems to assume you've read books a little.

I've started reading the books recently and the series is really excellent. The writing is top notch. I highly recommend it. Currently, in the middle of book 3 right now.
There is a LOT going on. Much more than 2 families actually go to war and it is setting the stage for all that and more. That being said, I think it's doing a stellar job at trying to explain the most it can while still remaining faithful to the books.
I need a direwolf.

It's shows like these that makes me wish I had HBO.
I'll just have to wait for it to be released on DVD.

So much character development, such a rich, varied world. The writing is top notch. It's really awesome. I'm in book 3 and they have only gotten better as the series progressed.

And so far they're sticking with the books pretty closely. There are some little differences, of course, but for the most part it's pretty spot on. That should make most fans, aside from the purists, happy.

I had read up to the last 15 minutes of the episode.
I was totally shocked to see that the captured the Kingslayer. I didn't think that would happen.
I knew that Ned died but was shocked that Joffrey did it. Stupid little kid ruined all their plans.
I'm not sure what can happen in the season finale but I guess that we'll see. I am looking forward to reading the second book. It has been very enjoyable reading and watching at the same time.

Hopefully they got the balls to pull off Joffrey's story to the completion, the kid who plays him really does a good job at irritating me. I wanna see that kid get his ass handed to him, will say it was a decent casting of him...But seriously two of my favorite actors are dead in the series already...

What do you think they won't pull off? They have made a fairly accurate depiction of him thus far, except making him seem a bit more cunning than he was in the books. I agree, he was perfectly cast. The show has been great so far. The pacing is a bit different, but I actually think I prefer the pacing of the show so far
