Nice!
I want to make a snide Kotaku comment but I'll refrain.
Back on topic,
Is EA going to be doing this with all their PC titles? Seems like they're leaving money on the table, if their not going to have others handle DD with their titles. I know they will make pure profit but going directly and not have to worry about a middleman, but you think in this market that accessibility is key to maximizing their profit.

I really hope other publishers don't get the idea to start their own client too, and exclusively selling their games. I really don't want to have 5 different clients on my computer to load up just to play a different game. GOG and D2D are fine because they don't bloat your system.

Agreed Dok, man gog.com is the devil...i just find myself there buying almost anything and everything since i grew up with all those games.

EA has already indicated that The Old Republic will be an Origin exclusive and it's probably not a stretch to assume that BF3 will either be an Origin exclusive or require an Origin client to run.
Those two games could very well be EA's "Trojan Horse" to get Origin on gamer PCs in much the same way as Valve used HL2 to get Steam on gamer PCs back in 2004.

I'll probably tell them to go fuck themselves, and buy a box version instead. Hell, if there is a collector's edition, might be better off with a boxed version to get some cool shit.

Can't we all just get along here?
I really think it's a waste for EA or really any other PC developer to go up against steam. I mean the time invested in creating your own system and standing up the hardware to run it day in day out has to subset whatever cost Valve is charging you to do the same thing.

Didn't Steam just have a EA week? Makes no sense to take Crysis off when half their other games are as well. If they did that then all of them should have went.

I guess SFLUFAN is to busy with his new found celebrity status to post that EA said it has nothing to do with them and it was a Steam Policy Crytek broke that and that Valve yanked it from Steam themselves.
