I just finally got around to getting this game today.
I've played so far probably about 4, maybe 5 hours.
So far, I really enjoy everything.
The battle system has a lot of familiar elements but there's a few things that are unique to Lost Odyssey. For example, the rings. You equip your character with a ring and then during battle, it settles over your enemies and if you get the timing just right, you can do extra damage. I'm really terrible at getting perfect timing, btw. ;D
The skill system is also pretty unique. The immortal characters don't get skills leveling up, but they can get them from mortals.
The only problem I've had so far is that there aren't enough random battles, so level grinding is kind of a pain (even more so than usual).
If you like jrpgs, though, this is a good one.

It's kind of vague still, so far. All I've learned is that the main character is immortal and doesn't remember much of his long, long life. Although occasionally, walking around and exploring things, you encounter things that trigger him to remember things and then you can go into a dream sequence thing that gives more back story.

Yea Lost Odyssey is a gem, youll love it Phoenix. I put in about 120 hours into it and the dream sequences alone i feel were so detailed and brought such incredible life to the characters, the game was a masterpiece overall. I got the full 1150/1150 i believe it was, from the game and it was awesome.
I loved the ring system they used, just added a nice touch to the battle system. Overall its one of my all time favorite games with a good story, music, characters etc..
Kaim is an awesome main character too. Have fun!

I have to agree with Seth on this. This is the only JRPG that I've played since Final Fantasy 12 that I've actually enjoyed. You HAVE to install the game to the hard drive because if you don't, the load times get really annoying. Other then that, the story is well done, the characters are fleshed out, and yes, as a music whore, in on par with some of the best in the industry. Hell, it's from the Final Fantasy master composer Nobuo Uematsu. The real problem I had with the game was that hellaious maze towards the end of the game. I had so much problems there as my characters where under level, the maze confused the hell out of me...but I stuck to it by fighting forever...but in the end, my characters were really too powerful for the endgame boss and I never finished the maze (slap to the face). I started a new game a month or two ago...haven't touched it since.

I'll also concur and say it was my favorite rpg on the 360. The story and characters were captivating.

Great JRPG. But I guess I'm in the minority when I say the story kinda fell apart at disc 3 and never fully recovered from it.

Truly a great game. Although it didn't do anything particularly mind blowing it is pretty much what a modern JRPG should be. Great character development, skillset customization, great writing, etc. I could complain about Kaim's messed up looking armor but really that's about it.

yeah it didnt do anything mindblowing but it definitely was a solid game.
i loved the dream sequences. very captivating.
honestly id say the story was the weak link though. the villain just didnt really do it for me at all.
it was my 2nd or 3rd favorite jrpg this gen.
1) tales of vesperia 2) the last remnant 3) lost odyssey
I think i like TLR more because of the combat system and a little bit better presentation.

I am still on disk 1. Should get back to this at some point. I been enjoying it but single player back log is pretty huge.
Haven't played tales of vesperia or last remnant either.
Don't really play much on 360 period other then Dance Central.

Haha, i may have to change MY name to Mr. Torture, because dude it was TORTURE, that DLC was just purely awful ;D The only reason i prevailed was because the annoyance of getting Treasure Trove i figured what the hell i may as well just annoy myself even more and finish it, that DLC was pretty bad but i did sit back in my chair with authority when i finished it!

i was planning on getting full points for LO, but no way I could get all of the seeds (I think it was seeds). I was missing ONE. And I could've sworn I gotten them all along the way. I realized I missed one but bought it at the auction house.
That one seed prevented me from getting a host of achievement points. /shakesfist

I have to be honest. I did not like this game. Tried to play it twice and just got bored both times. I can't even point out one thing I hated about it. Just could never get into it. Maybe I will try it one more time. I hate to give up on RPGs that seem to be generally well perceived.

I have been sitting on this game since I got my Xbox360 a few years ago. I need to just fire it up and start playing it. I know I will love it. With my love of Final Fantasy games and knowing that Hironobu Sakaguchi produced and the music was done by Nobuo Uematsu, another final fantasy favorite for composing, I have a feeling I am gonna really enjoy this title.

Of course you will Mud.
... Now only if he would give us The Last Story.
Makes me wish I knew Japanese with my love of JRPGs. I've already learned German and Spanish and I still can't hold a conversation in those languages past the "hello where is the bathroom" type stuff.
