Just curious.
Ive got a bad funk im in right now where i feel as if i dont do everything, then i feel im sort of missing out. And i want to get back to the mindset that just beating a game is still worth while with how many games we get these days.
How do you go about it?

With my massive backlog, I do good to just beat a game.
I might play some games for a little while after I beat them, but I typically move onto something else pretty quick.

I haven't gotten 100% in any game that I can recall. And the closest I've come to getting all Achievements in a 360 game is Oblivion (I'm missing one Shivering Isles achievement). But I can't be bothered to get that last one with all the other games I still need to play.

My priority is to try and finish the game. Depending on how captivating it is, I'll explore and do as much as I can or want to while I beat it. Depending on how easy they make the game to 100%, then I'll go ahead and shoot for it.
The last game I attempted complete was Arkham Asylum. It did such a good job making me feel like part of the Batman universe that I wanted to pick up on the story elements it was telling. And they didn't really make the game too time consuming or hard, so I completed the single player campaign and found all the secrets. I've done most of the challenges, too, except for a couple. I don't particularly care if I get all the achievements - it depends on how absurd they are.
I would typically try to complete all of my games, but I usually spend time in online multiplayer. First I started with Counter-Strike, then came Battlefield 2, then came Left 4 Dead, then came Team Fortress 2, and then came Bad Company 2.

Honestly, I have a problem doing either. It seems like I usually buy games, play them for a bit, then move on. I don't know why I do this. It takes a lot for me to actually beat games. I probably beat 4-5 year haha. In the past 6 months, I've beaten Alan Wake, Castlevania, and today I beat portal 2. That's probably it. My backlog is sad.

I've reached the point where I have waaaaay to many games to ever even think about 100%ing something.

I try really hard to complete things 100% if I'm a fan of the game. Games like Assassin's Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, Final Fantasy, will make me try and complete everything.

Mostly I'll just beat a game, but sometimes I enjoy going through again and getting 100%, but it goes by a game by game basis.

I dont think i have ever completed a game 100%, especially not on current gen systems, i've got too big of a backlog to do that.

I don't remember the last game I ever completed 100%. I think I have though, I just don't know. But I do like to beat them for sure, if they hold my interest.

I've reached the point where I have waaaaay to many games to ever even think about 100%ing something. I'm truly at that point as well. I used to be a stickler for completing a game 100% but I slowly started to realize that it was making me resent the game, I just became tired of doing it. The birth of my son played the biggest role though, my gaming time has plunged since then. 100% most games just isn't really an option any longer.

RPGs I try to get 100%. I don't know what it is about those games. I just have this need to complete every mission and explore every single area. There are times when I try to break myself of this habit(generally at the end of an RPG because I am at 50 hours or so playing) but I can't seem to allow myself to. Usually other games I just try to beat and collect what I can.

It depends on the game.
For example I hate fetch quests to get something. But I will go out of my way if I know where to go for something extra in a game.

Depends on how much I like the game really. I like my trophies to reflect how much I enjoyed the game.

I always just beat a game (although my backlog belies my ability to do even that very often). I just don't see the need most of the time to get 100%. I don't find collecting all the random objects game designers can think to scatter around levels very appealing.

Yeah I am not fond of collectathons. In the Zelda games I stopped going for all the heart container pieces. Usually you can beat the final boss without having all hearts.

Most of the time I'm just happy to beat the game. While I don't have any backlog I just beat the game (if it is worth my time) and that's that. Sometimes if games are really fun and offer exciting/interesting achievements I will try to get them but that is rare these days.

Honestly, I am amazed at you guys who can complete a game 100%. The closest I've come is 98% and that was with Limbo. Seth, I think you are there with me on that one at 98%. I fired it up over the weekend b/c I wanted to show my wife something.
