Reckoning looked like what Fable wanted to be.
Ubi's conference was pretty good with Ghost Recon and AC: rev, some of the other games do too.

AC: Revelations does look great, but I'm burnt out on AC games.
Favourite moment for me: Tie between Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and FarCry 3 Worst moment: Mr. Caffeine WTF moment: Brothers in Arms: Furious Four

MS was pretty meh this year. New interface looks sick though. Also one of the biggest things they released today wasn't even talked about in the presser. Cloud saving FTW!

Sony was underwhelming. Better than MS, but Nintendo has a huge chance tomorrow.

Nintendo has to really suck in order to screw this up. I think it's safe to say this is Nintendo's E3.

Agree with both of the above!
I'm still bummed I'm going to miss the conference, though.
Creepin, you're at E3 aren't you? What have you been able to try out so far?

I'm not there just yet. I'm heading there tomorrow and heading straight for the Nintendo booth. It's going to be an even bigger line this year than for the 3DS, so hopefully I can play something.
I'm going to try my best to look at everything but I'm only going for 2 days this year. I'm going to take a lot of pics!

That pretty well sums up the conference in a nutshell. Another thing that left me dumbfounded was the complete lack of XBLA titles. Usually Microsoft plays up the Summer of Arcade at their conference and nothing...I'm sure there will be an XBLA presence in their booth, but I like to see them presented in the conference. Microsoft was clearly focusing on and pushing Kinect again this year. I do like the fact that some more core games are supporting Kinect, but beyond Ghost Recon I didn't really see anything there that would sway me in the direction of buying a Kinect. Ryse from Crytek does show some promise, but it's too early to tell whether it'll be anything significant. My feeling after walking away from the conference was that Microsoft desperately needs a fresh new first party exclusive. There was absolutely nothing surprising and year after year it seems like the same stuff: New Halo! New Forza! New Gears! New Fable! Blech, give me something to get really excited about Microsoft. I know the reasoning behind making consistent releases for these series' but it really has gotten stale. Also, does anyone else really not care about all of these multimedia features that are being added to live? I don't care about Youtube, UFC and watching TV on my 360; maybe I'm just oldschool, but I already have a computer. I bought my 360 to play games on and I wish Microsoft would focus more of its efforts on that. I hate to sound like a negative Nancy but I fear these consoles are just moving further away from my tastes.

I bought my 360 to play games on and I wish Microsoft would focus more of its efforts on that. I hate to sound like a negative Nancy but I fear these consoles are just moving further away from my tastes. It's what the market wants. The market being the majority of the people who buy these consoles. The "majority" will buy something that does as many things as possible. And considering how these consoles have the hardware necessary to pull off of these features, it's really a no brainer to implement them. It gives the console more versatility to hook more people into buying it. Honestly I do not think these extra Internet features are detracting from gaming. Major developers are still making games. These extra features are not that time consuming, which is the real issue at hand. I don't really see these new marketing hooks as moving away from gaming. Gaming is still there. It's always been there and always will be there. The simple act of adding something not entirely related to gaming does bring the average use of the console away from gaming, but I do not think the absolute value of gaming has degraded. In other words I don't think Microsoft is not focusing on gaming. They are simply marketing it differently. Their outer focus may appear towards non-gaming, but the inner focus is not. It's simply a business strategy to make more money. Just don't be fooled into believing the console is going to stop being a gaming machine, because I really don't believe that is the case at all regardless if they spent half of their E3 conference showcasing non-gaming stuff.

I agree, Mr. D, but I truly think they do not give a s***; they have Kinect, they have your living room and they have good online play. ...It is very disappointing, but the days of them trying to be a great first party developer or getting 3rd party exclusives are over.

Nintendo really looked impressive if they can deliver the 3rd party support they say they are going to get.

I think Nintendo did well. I had the opposite reaction. I thought the conference was confusing for the most part; one of the worst reveals of a new console that I can remember.

I will agree that it could have been done better, but I am focusing more on what the system can do than how it was revealed. We will probably see a full software unveil next year at E3. I was hoping to see the machine early 2012, but given they aren't showing any real games for it I expect it to be late 2012 now.
Edit: Additionally MS did poorly. While Sony did better, they were a bit weird about what they demo'd on stage. I didn't care about the Vita stuff really. Very odd year from Sony imo, half their other games aren't coming out until 2012. I thought MS could repeat last year and they pretty much did.

I agree with everything you said about MS and Sony. This was supposed to be Sony's big year, yet besides Uncharted 3, their lineup isn't all that exciting. With Nintendo and MS resting on just one major exclusive each this year -- Skyward Sword and GOW 3, respectively -- this was Sony's year to take, but they're dropping the ball IMO.

Eh, I think their 3DS stuff is cool so in my book Nintendo had more to show. And as I've said I am excited to learn more about Wii U.

I think Nintendo may have almost sold me on a 3DS after the conference. The fact that everything they showed besides Luigi's Mansion will be out by Christmas will be a huge boon for the 3DS this holiday season.

The 3DS trailers are even better in 3D. Of course, people who can watch them in 3D already have a 3DS. But there are games I wasn't really thinking about getting that I probably will now after seeing them in 3D.

The 3DS showcase one easily one of my favorite parts of E3, it's already looked like a superb yearfor gaming in almost every genre and consle, and now the 3DS joins that list spectacularly with Star Fox 3D, Super Mario 3D, Mario Kart (love the new concepts), Kid Icarus Uprising (Yes, multiplayer, here's hoping for online), Paper Mario (new trailer is great), Animal Crossing (swimming, and full outfits, might actually go back to the series), Resident Evil Mercenaries, and of course Luigi's Mansion 2.
The Wii U has got me very excited, but it's the sort of excited where I still want to see about their networking (Reggie said that they will be showing off more about it later in the week), and more of the games. Stil, a very exciting conference if a little slow at times.
I still give EA the win for the conferences, but there's not much I love more than staying home for the rest of the week for E3 coverage, and who knows what we might yet see!
